Replacing front cowl, can I use the old stay/bracket?

No clue what Q bond is, but I've had really good luck with JB Weld repairing broken plastic bits and pieces. Use the original stuff, not the quick set.

Replacing front cowl, can I use the old stay/bracket?

Truck backed into my bike at 1km/h in a parking lot, knocking it over. The front barely kissed the pavement, but it was enough to tweak the bracket about 5mm to the left. If you crashed hard enough to break the plastic fairing, I think it's a safe bet that the bracket is bent. When I...

    Chain cutting / riveting

I've used a very similar tool twice, works fine. I just use mine to press the master link. A dremel with a cut off wheel slices through the chain like butter to get it off.

    Givi panniers?

^ This. A big chunky top case might look dorky as Urkel but is incredibly practical. I only use my V35 panniers for longer trips, but my E52 top case never leaves the bike. The single best thing I've ever done to any bike. My E52 and a 60L duffle is all the space I really need, the V35's are...

    Itching for an FZ-1

Used FZ1's are cheap, keep an eye out. I like mine :)

    FZ6 Mulholland Crash

I think the guy camps out there every weekend to get pictures, you're bound to get the odd crash here and there. There is a lookout a 100m up from this corner where many people stop to take a break, look at all the bikes/cars blasting through that corner and the corners below. For what it's...

    Heated Grips?

Used the Symtec under the grip heater elements for a long time, current FZ1 came with Oxford's. Oxford's are much better, will put a set on every future bike I own.

    garmin basecamp woes

Yes, Basecamp is the worst piece of software I have ever used. I don't think they could make it worse if they tried. If Google was kind, they would make an option to easily export Google maps directly to Garmin, bypassing Basecamp. One can only dream

when do i change tyres. distance or age?

I bought my FZ1 with a five year old Michelin Pilot Road that was nearly new. That tire was scary beyond words. The slightest bit of throttle would cause the back tire to spin. Don't know if it's because of the age, or how it was stored, but damn... Against better judgement, I put 14k km on...

All Balls Racing steering head bearings, noob question!

The complaints slowed down with the S2's and I suspect most S1's that were going to have an issue, have already had them replaced many years ago. I bought my bike in '07, and that's pretty much what everyone was talking about back then and for a few years afterwards. If you look through the...

All Balls Racing steering head bearings, noob question!

I never pressure wash my bikes, but I've never shied from the rain. I've always suspected it was due to a design flaw in the seals. I know I've seen some similar condition bearings posted before. Here's an example at 7000 miles, My steering head bearings are officially shot. - Sportbikes.net...

All Balls Racing steering head bearings, noob question!

Similar experience, mine were shot (see pic below) at ~16k km. Replaced with All Balls and didn't even touch them until I sold the bike 100k km later

    Throttlemeisters

I've had the heavy Throttlemeisters for about 100k km's. They look fantastic and help with the vibes. Their intended function though is iffy. If it's spaced perfectly, the stars are aligned, it's a second Tuesday on an even day, and it's a full moon, it may possibly work perfectly. The rest of...
