    Howling noise??

I would also check the tires for cupping or strange wear. I had a Sportster that would howl between 45 and 55 mph that was so bad I would not ride in that speed range. The front had gotten pretty cupped, and a new tire fixed the noise.

Weird siren/whining like noise after chain/sprocket replacement

Also check to see that the rear wheel is straight, not pointing slightly to the left or right. The chain will rub on the sides of the sprockets, you will see them as shiny areas on the sprockets where the chain is rubbing. Sight down the chain from rear to front, or use a chain alignment tool...

    Request for well wishes, please

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read the post. There was a small, private service and the team did a great job of making the kid look like she never was sick. I was proud to be able to tell my sister that I had a group of people that was willing to support them. Thanks again, Ken

    Request for well wishes, please

Hi guys and gals. I have been here a long time and peruse the site daily. I am not generally socially active, as you can tell by my post count, but I started with the forum back on the sportbike site and have seen a lot of members come and go, and then come back. That being said, I would...

    Synchronizing throttle body trouble

I use the cheap plastic aquarium valves from the pet store/ wally world. Pack a little grease around the threads to keep from sucking air. Now you can shut them all off, crank the engine, and slowly crack them open, tweaking the adjustment screw until you can get the manometer levels close...

Rear Sprocket Carrier | Failed Studs

I have been able to unscrew the studs by locking the damaged stud in a bench vice and spin the carrier. I have found (temporary) studs at the auto supply, toyota exhaust manifold studs, in the self help section. The length needs to be cut down to clear the swingarm. Ken

Vibration! A cure for bad vibrations, Spark Plug Caps!!

As a long time lurker, I thought I might add a positive comment. Thought I would look at this on a whim, bike has 47k miles, and pretty smooth overall. After looking at 1,2 and 3 cyl loose, went ahead and trimmed #4 as well. Made no other changes, and did see further improvement...

    Rear Sprocket Change

I went up 1 on the front 1. Lowers highway cruising rpm by 500 2. Speedometer error is essentially corrected 3. No changes to chain length 4. Works well as a commuting setup, plenty of room between shift points. The bike still wakes up after 8k rpm. Been like this for most of...

    Euro turn signal help...

14v is what gives them a longer life, they have a thicker filament. There will not be much visual difference between 5w and the 10w that you are replacing. The wedge base appears to be the same size as yours, plus they should be available locally, and for only a couple of bucks will get you...
