O.K., it isn't a bike, but just in case anyone needs a fun cage...

They made improvements to reduce the heat on the sprints in '06-'07, I think. I put 20k on the FZ6 and 12k so far on the Sprint, all in hot, humid gulf coast weather & even hotter central texas summer touring. At speed on the open road, the 2 bikes are about the same: I feel some heat through...
Am I the grim reaper for bikes? First I buy an FZ6 a year before the model is dropped for the FZ6N... then I trade it for a Sprint ST, a year before it is replaced by the GT! Oh well, I've never wanted a v-twin cruiser, but think of the possibilities if I ever got one of those...
Depending...
Speed Triple is definitely fun, although I went with the Sprint ST to meet/expand the practical roles my FZ6 had filled (plus adding some low-end torque!). With the TOR exhaust & Triumph's download, it is also quite a different beast from what I initially rolled off the dealer's lot- I am sure...
As for deals on sprints, they are out there. The bike is basically unchanged since 07 and you can find them sitting on the floor at dealers. Do a little searching & shoot them a price. They may take it- that is what I did in late summer. Went for a 2 day motorcycle ride before an out of town...
My limited experience matches on the brakes & gearbox. No brake issues for me (haven't yet "used" the ABS), and the shifting, even at several thousand miles into an oil change, is smoother than my FZ6- particularly that 1st-2nd THUNK that made the kids at the end of the street stop & watch...
The torque a-n-y-w-h-e-r-e really is the biggest difference over the FZ6, although I still miss that top end roar of the FZ6. I looked at the smaller triumph triples, but they were too similar to what I had on the FZ6, and I couldn't justify a change. In the end, the 1050 Sprint ST fit my...
I shortened the bungees (tied a few knots in them), then pulled them down & hooked onto the guard by the passenger foot pegs. For the rear, I ran them under the rear suuports for the grab rail, then clipped them onto the support from underneath. That worked well most every day for the 1.5yrs I...
I have over a year and 10k miles with my X-11. It replaced a Scorpion EXO700. I will echo the earlier sentiments on lower weight and great airflow, and add a few more notes:
- I thought the Scorpion had good airflow, until I left the house with the Shoei- wow, what a difference.
- The noise...
I have used the Oxtar (now TCX) Airtech XCR boots for 2 years of daily commuting in hot & humid Houston. I would definitely recommend them. They have been around long enough to get clearance deals here & there.
They are ventilated & still waterproof.
Sounds low to me on the trade. I traded in a red 2007 FZ6 with 18k miles last weekend for $3800. Only mods were dark-smoke Puig, tankslapper, and frame sliders. Plenty of chips on the grab rails and a few on the tank from daily tank bag/tailbag use.
The trade-in wasn't even brought to the...
