Are R compound tires strictly for track? Could I use my current commuter tires (Pilot Road 4) if they have a lot of remaining track or would you recommend getting a pair of track tires and then switching back to commuting? My only is I don't have a garage or car and this would need to be done...

It was happening before the tire replacement and thus why I thought it was bearing and got that replaed. Havent had chance to spin front wheel but do have the manual thanks. I guess I can replace the rear pads - where do you recommend buying pads from?

Pads were in decent shape when I last checked them a few months ago and the mechanic that replaced my bearings (and new front wheel) didn't say anything about them so I assume they were fine but would they squeak when I am not using them?

I don't have a lot of track experience (1 CS course) but interested in converting my current 05 FZ6 commuter into a dedicated track bike. I heard it is better to start on a 300 for a track bike and it's a lot cheaper (tires go through faster?) Curious what everyone's thoughts are

Noticed a weird squeaky, siren-like sound at highway speeds near the front of the bike. Thought it was the front bearing so had the replace and still hear it. Any ideas?

I do...I was always told (MSF I think), to turn off bike was to hit kill switch and then turn the key. I might try your tieing the wires together despite the instructions on the thread linked earlier - I have a fear of taking things apart since I normally fail to put them together properly...

I've noticed recently my 05 FZ won't turn over when hitting the ignition switch (although the dashboard lights up). I usually just flip the engine cut off back and forth and then hit ignition and that usually does the trick but it seems to be getting worse. I know first thought is battery but...
