I hope you people are'nt adjusting the throttle plate screws. The fz has one of the easiest sync set ups ive ever seen. Use the air by-pass screws. And no they dont need constant adjustment.
It is kinda normal but if it pisses you off, Have the fiber plates of the clutch soaked in oil overnight. Sometimes at the factory they dont get a sufficient soak. and install the rounded outside edge of the steel plates inward. I promise it will be night and day.
the ticking is normal like you think. Some times at a 30 mph cruise through town you may hera the air injection reeds on the top of the head cove vibrate a bit too. dont be worried.
Also, remember that, sometimes the Japaneese dont recomend R+M/2 octane values. They just suggest research octane values. So just use regular for the fz.
The FZ6 is designed to run on regular fuel. You always want to run the lowest octane possible to gain the most power. Running on high octane fuel wil be harder to ignite. Premium does not mean more power. It means harder to ignite!
