Lope idle with new exhaust setup

I did get the vacuum to Yamaha spec by setting the vacuum of cylinder 1 with a vac gauge and then using the homemade manometer trick to sync the others to cylinder 1. I'm also at sea level, are you suggesting that I ignore the actual vacuum spec and just get it running smooth and well sync'd...

Lope idle with new exhaust setup

Update, I set the vaccum and synced the throttle bodies, helped a little but it's certainly still there. Interestingly enough, while messing with the screws I got the idle to be fully smooth, but the vacuum was way above spec (like 26cmHg), and when I set it back to spec it returned to the lope...

Lope idle with new exhaust setup

That is what I was thinking of doing next (the TB sync that is, already tried the zero map). That raises a question though, with the idle jumping around, how should I set the idle vacuum to spec? Presumably I won't have a stable reading. I suppose I could either set the idle high enough that it...

Lope idle with new exhaust setup

It does allow modification of low rpm values, I can tell because I can elicit a response by changing the parameters, I just can't fix the issue. Hopefully a Dyno tune with a sniffer will sort it out.

Might be a silly question (exhaust baffles)

It certainly won't create uneven back pressure since it Y's like other posters have said. The only thing that may happen is that there may be some increase of turbulence right before the split for the two mufflers. If that happens then I'd guess the flow will still be better than w/ both DB...

Lope idle with new exhaust setup

I have a PCV, and I tried enriching the mixture (already at plus 15) and it didn't seem to help (just made the loping more labored). This makes me wonder if a dyno tune will be able to fix it.

    Running a PCV.

Lope idle with new exhaust setup

I just installed a two brothers slip on and while I was in there I gutted my cat. Sounds excellent now. Problem I'm having is that the idle is crap now. Its super lopey and rough. I can get it to smooth out if I raise the idle to like 1450-1500 rpm, but then the revs don't drop as quick as I'd...

    WTB Exhaust

Looking for really anything. The only thing I am not interested in is single exhausts. Would prefer not to have the weird tips that are extruded from the muffler body, but if the price is right ill consider.

    Diag mode not working correctly

My fz6 has not had the tps recall completed. I wanted to see if my tps was out of range on diag mode, but when I went to check it I encountered an issue. I can get into diag mode fine (diag pops up on the screen), but when I press select to scroll, nothing happens. So I'm stuck on the screen...

Mounting mirrors on clutch/brake lever brackets on converted bike

So it seems a lot of people use the fz8 clutch perch for this situation. Cheap price for an oem part so seems like an attractive option. Only thing I'm wondering is does the fz6's clutch saftey switch fit on the fz8 perch? I can't seem to find anyone discussing that.

How do you centerstand free riders check chain slack?

Oh can you? Does it not throw off the measurement to measure on the side stand?

How do you centerstand free riders check chain slack?

Thanks, I figured that would be something like what I'd have to do. I think I might order a centerstand off ebay to make this easier.

How do you centerstand free riders check chain slack?

The manual states to check chain slack on the centerstand. Presumably checking slack on a paddock stand would throw off the measurement seeing as the swing arm would not be hanging as if it were on the center stand. My bike does not have a centerstand. How do you guys who don't have centerstands...

Mounting mirrors on clutch/brake lever brackets on converted bike

I recently bought an 05 fz6 which was converted to naked by the previous owner using the VS-02 kit sold by dev_usc. Love the look of the bike, only thing I'm not in love with is the mirror setup. It appears the p/o got some R6 mirrors and attached them to the bars with an aftermarket clamp...
