Crashed about 4 weeks ago....not more than 10-15mph and much more of a slide than a crash. Lifted her up and drove her home after cussing' and sweeping all the plastic off the road.
Everything works but the speedo.....which remanined in place and in position.
It's blank all the time except...
Weeeellll.....If i cant get mine fixed...I'll give you the sucker for freight. See my post a ways down from yours....l
Diary me for a few weeks and come back and ask. Either I get it fixed, buy a replace or prob sell the bike. Read the thread.
Gregg...let me illustrate my mechanical skills with a story:
In '67 I bought a Honda 160 used.
Decided to clean the carbs...simple little carbs with 1 needle and 1 screw to turn.
Reassembled the carb....turned it on and it revved up to about 20k with sparks flying out of the pipe. Got so...
Nothing like a link to a $485 part to make you start thinking outta the box.
So...all my cluster has is the time displaying...nothing else. With the engine off...I pull the white plug...wait a few seconds and the time drops out.
Turn the bike on...motor running and...
Sloooowly plug it back...
Thanks for the link.
Actually......I'm trying to decide wheter to rebuild, part out or sell my '05.
With only 7800 miles....
Deeee-stroyed all my front plastic about 3 weeks ago . Only things i need to replace are instruments and headlights...everything else is there and works as suposed to.
Warm day in '67 rode a big bear scrambler....belonged to Roger...to whom I will be indebted forever.
Bought a cb160 from a drunk welder a week later
Only comment on my abilities ever made to my face:
Man:Gee...we see people crash here all the time but but we ain't never seen anybody get up...
worth mentioning....the FZ on a normal saturday ride to the hills actually burns less than my ninjette. Rode to Boston @ 90...219 miles to the fumes, did the same ride on the ninjette....210
Hmmm thought i posted this afternoon?
Thank you guys for your concern. I didnt get hurt, walked away. As to pulling the fuse...nope...not yet but tomorrow I'll do it and see what happens to the instruments. So,,,,it's going naked and i followed one of your comments re the trail Tech...
Yeah...not what I wanted to hear but I was told the same thing by another friend.
Although.......I havent tried pulling the fuse. I dont know anything about how LCD's work but I do recall the last time I crashed a code came up on the panel,,,couldnt start her and a pal disconnected the battery...
The long story short is that I rear ended an SUV.
Deeeeestroyed all the front plastic but...of course...rode her home. Prob is this....the instrument panel....with the exception of the time display....doesnt display anyting. No connections loose, no wires broken, light still light, signals...
Checked tire pressure again in the daylight...let a few puffs out and the prob disappeared and didnt show up again till 115-ish. Well, given that I spend very little time at that speed it could be a done deal yet I did notice that the weight appeared to be reattached by former owner ...I think...
