Drying your bike shortcut!

Just an FYI that works very well.

Years ago I bought a fancy and expensive bike specific "blower/dryer". (Works great but kinda expensive)

Using the same idea, a standard electric leaf blower works just as well.

Once washed and rinsed, work your way from the top, downwards/outwards.

It'll get into all the nooks and crannies and considerably shorten the dry time with NO spotting. Its rare I'll take a towel to the bike unless your really slow..

With the extension blower tube on it, I use it on my tall SUV and works just as well. Works especially well trying to get to the roof, roof rack, etc. I do have to use the towel for a quick wipre down for a stray water run...

*For the end of the tube, I did put some soft side velcro around the end should I bump the paint (it doesn't get scratched)..

Yeah, i have been using a leaf blower to dry my bike since i bought it, i go all fuel powered blow on it and it is dry in 1 minute!

Do you have a link or brand name for that blower? I have a portable, 7 gallon air tank that I fill to 120 PSI. I use a brake line blow gun.(rubber tipped non OSHA) Top down like you said. I water wash my bike about once a year. SOCal so most of my dirt is bugs N dust. I shoot water through my coolant and oil radiators.
I blow the water out of the radiators with the compressed air.
I was stuck in rain on Saturday. Lane split for 40 miles in traffic. That's how bad the traffic was. I was lucky I had taken the bike. As a side note there were many who were very aware I was there and made extra effort to give me room.
The bike was really dirty so yesterday was detail and chain clean and lube.

I've been using electric leaf blower to dry my bikes (and sometimes cars) for years. I have s shop-vac which converts into blower :thumbup:

Yepper, its an:"Air Force Blaster".

This is what I have exactly;

I did modify it some. You can get a wheel kit for it, I just made my own, much easier than picking up and dragging around


When I wash MY Four Runner, its pretty tall, I use a TORO electric leaf blower( the long tube makes it easy to reach to roof).

I have another blower out in the dock box for drying the boat as well.

One thing worth mentioning: This drying approach works much better if you used a "auto-dry" or "quick-dry" car soap concentrate. There are many to choose from.. all work well.

Regular car soap will not come off as well and you may still end up with spots if you use just the blower to dry the bike / car off.

Chamois dry, then the power saver option- 30 min riide and then back for chain lube- works for me

Yeah, been use'in the leaf blower fer years; though I don't wash mah bike often.
(Also use it to blow all the cat hair outta mah PC.)
