2005 shutting off in idle-help

Hey y'all,
I have a 2005 fz6 and it's been running great but I took it on a trip and I came to a stop light and in shut off in neutral. I parked it and checked. Everything I rev the engine a little it shutts if when it goes back to the low Rpms. I was thinking the tps but I replaced that last year. Could it be bad again? I don't even know where to start. I also had a new starter put on a couple months ago so don't think it that. Let me know!

Is your idle speed set at approx 1,300 RPM's(hot)?

What is YOUR normal idle set at and what does it drop to when acting up?...

Re the TPS, not likely it failed again, but you can test it thru the dash board (check the top of the tech section for the procedure).

Do you use your RED KILL switch often?? It is a known weak point and of course will kill the engine. It WILL NOT CRANK/SPIN over if its acting up/faulty. PLEASE check that when it shuts down. It can be by-passed (simply tieing the two wires together defeats the switch).


Just thinking, from your trip, did it start acting up after a recent fuel fill up at a different station? (ie, checking to see if you picked up water in the fuel system). If so, you can either dump the tank or an excellent product that actually works is K100. You pick up a small bottle. It does not eliminate the water but keeps it from separating and mixed with the fuel. Your literally burning off the water as you ride..

I've used it in my boat (built in 50 gallon tank, 1997, never drained, removed) and it and non-ethonol fuel has REMOVED any and all traces of moisture on the tank
