LED blinkers flashing to fast. Odd

UPDATE >>> Installed replay, all flashing correctly now.

I have a 2009 FZ6 and I'm replacing all of the stock blinkers/signals with LED ones.

I disconnected all the stock blinkers and installed the front left LED blinker with a resistor. The resistor is supposed to correct the fast blinking issue associated with LED signals, but it's still flashing fast. Note that I don't have any other LED blinkers installed, just the one at the front left. Before I continue I was wondering why this is happening.

The resistor is wired in parallel to emulate the current draw of an incandescent lamp. Do you have it wired in series?
Also a better all round approach would be to get an electronic type flasher that will flash at a steady rate regardless of what lights or combination of lights you use. Then you do not need the load resistors any longer.

I'm no electrical wise, but I wired the yellow to yellow and black to black and then to the stock connector. And oh... I didn't connect the blue wire since it a running light, I just tucked it into the wrap. So I connected the brown to yellow and black to black.

I apologize because I don't know how that type resistor is wired. I imagine it to be a wire wound on ceramic inside of the aluminum case. But I can't tell whether you have it in series or parallel. If it is wired parallel it should provide the proper load giving you the proper flash rate.
Is it wired across the the leads to the LED or is it wired inline with one of the wires? If it is wire inlined it will not load the circuit but it will instead provide a voltage drop through LED.

:thumbup:That would be your best bet. I would ditch the resisters and just install the relay that Motogiro linked you to. That is what I did and it worked great and it's just a direct swap. Easy as pie!

I had those resistors at 1st and they failed one by one within a month! so i got a LED flasher relay. Straight swap for the current relay :thumbup:

In my opinion the resistors make the light very dim, I changed the flasher for $15 from ebay and fixed the problem.. It adjusted all your signals.. no more extra resistors per light.. It took me a while to find out.. All you do is unplug and plug the new one in... Cant get easier that that..

Should be the same electronic flasher relay for the FZ6. There's a stickied thread under electrical forum that has the link to the site that sell one for $8.95

While riding I was surprised to see the blinkers flashing faster (as if I was using the stock relay) and when I pulled over and tried them again it was back to normal. The rear signals are the stock. Did I buy a pos knockoff relay or is something else going on?

Possibility it's a defective unit or not what they claim. Maybe it's voltage sensitive. Try the flasher while idling and the rev it to 3k to see if the flash rate changes. Either way it should flash at a steady rate.

Ok, so it works normally only while engine off or at normal idle. Speeds up as soon as bike is revved. It's defective for sure eh, there is no way I hooked it up wrong?

All of the electronic type flashers I've seen will work in only one direction. You've probably wired it OK but he unit is defective
...
