Okay so I checked my air filter for the first time since buying it last year...

Looks like either:
A) Mice made a nice little home over the winter
B) It's been neglected for a very long time

Hopefully this "little" issue will help with gas mileage and stuff..

I hate fiberglass! I can't imagine a mouse using that stuff for a nest. That's just not natural! If a mouse is carrying that stuff in there don't you think there would be fiberglass in it's mouth? That's not the materiel from the filter is it?

This is why I always go through vehicles as soon as I get them home haha. I bet the previous owner thought it would be a good idea for a prefilter for what looks like a K&N filter. That whole piece went into the air box at the same time as it's not shredded (would be if mice brought it in piece by piece). Otherwise, I really doubt a piece of insulation that big would have gotten sucked into the air box.

Previous owner must have thought that this was a good idea when wheather was a bit cold or something?

Maybe the guy who owned it before put it in there to stop the mice activity in storage and forgot about it.

Yeah I really don't know what to think with what happened here. This has only taught me to check everything when you get something new to you. I figured this had something to do with the really bad mpg I have been getting.
