some people are nuts they have ZERO respect for bikers. This one semi was tail-gating me on the freeway ( i was doing 75kph in 80kph zone in right lane of 2 lane one-way freeway) so i slowed to like 50 or 60 (very gradually eyeing him in mirror) and waved him to go around. so he goes around and cuts me off like a jackass to get in front of me and hes got rocks falling out the back of his trailer theyre pinging off my helmet i was like holy **** i should follow this guy and blow his truck up or something.

and just yesterday I merged into traffic and some guy I guess was in a big hurry or something cuz he didnt like the fact that i merged in front of him and was doing like 5-7 km under the speed limit so he RIPS it in front of me cutting me off hitting his brakes while hes doing it. I pass him while hes making a left turn later and look at him in bewilderment and HE GIVES ME THE FINGER!!!!! I was like wow, that deserves something special. But I kept it to myself and kept on puttering along.

Intentionally doing something like that should be a criminal offense. Cuz when ur on a bike your pretty much a pedestrian. That should be like "attempted assault with a deadly weapon" and be similar to a gun charge or something the way I see it.

Too bad the government wont go for it. Rat bastards. They probably drive hummers.

Sounds like you are leaving yourself vulnerable! Sometimes you have to adjust your line or speed, even if you have to switch lanes or ride faster. Personally, I wouldn't be travelling on the right lane of the freeway unless I'm exiting because it's probably the most dangerous lane to travel in. Riding is just not about skill, but also making the correct decisions on where to ride on the roadways based on your knowledge of what can and can't happen.

Too much traffic entering and exiting. How many cagers do you see cutting across several lanes of traffic to make a last second exit? Too many around here. The farther left you are the safer as long as you are not impeding traffic in any way.

FYI: I work with this guy who use to drive those semi trucks, they drive fast intentionaly because they need momentum to keep moving forward especially it they are carrying a load i.e. dirt, rocks, etc. It's difficult for these large vehicles to keep up with traffic if they need to slow down for every chuck and larry. For us it's best to just avoid riding in front of them, this will be "our" way of helping them out as well as ourselves. Why stand in front of a firing squad if can simply sit this one out?? I know some of those guys are probably jerks to begin with, but why look for trouble.... you're talking about a SEMI TRUCK (lawrie) vs. a small bike. Don't be crazy in motioning them to slow down, just ride faster if safe or move to another lane.

Why in the world would you ever wave on a semi to go around you??? You should've sped up to get away from him. I like to ride faster than the flow of traffic so I'm not around all of the idiots.

Just ride your ride and expect all cages to drive like that and dont let it bother you and you will get home just fine.

Ya most people are @$$holes so I just expect everyone to drive like a prick. Just remember your faster, quicker, and way more maneuverable then a car. If they ride us @$$ on the street than hey, Just do a fkn burnout n throw some rocks up at there fkn windshield. When they complain they can tell the cops that they were following too closely.

This is how it all happens. You have someone who wants to do everything by the book, like an innocent boy at school, but it just ain't good enough. Everybody else wants to cheat. Everybody else wants to go a little bit faster.

I understand how you feel. You want to go the speed limit, but everybody else is gunning you down.

It's called: THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC.

If you're going 45 in a 50 zone and an OLD LADY in a car passes you; YOU MAY WANT TO PICK UP THE PACE.

One time, I was going 75 in an 80 zone, because I thought the SPEED LIMIT was really...THE LIMIT. Where I come from, most people go 10% above the speed limit. Even the seniors were telling me to go faster! Lots of funny things people do with their hands these days.

If you're going the EXACT speed limit in the LEFT LANE (North America), you're asking for trouble. The LEFT LANE is known as THE FAST LANE. People expect less turn-offs to occur in the LEFT LANE, so people are expected to go faster in it. 10% above the speed limit is normal from where I am (actually, one guy drove nearly 400KM/H to stay alive, but that's another story).

Playground or School zones are very strict. Don't EVER go over the speed limit in those places, even if thousands of old people pass you in their cars. (Passing in a kiddy zone is illegal)

Sometimes you have to use the DARK SIDE OF THE FORCE. If a Jedi Sith Lord is attempting to stab you with a lightsaber, then by all means, SPEED UP TO GET OUT OF THE WAY!!

Errmm... Whats a cager!

Derived from: Roll-Cage

A motorcycle slang-term used to describe the ignorance of any driver of a 4 wheeled vehicle with presumably an enclosed chassis.
(In other words, an ignorant car driver)

Claud refers to them as Chumps.

*Remember, nobody's a scumbag.

Coming from the same general area you're from I can honestly say this is a really, really good idea and it will keep you safe and alive.

Cages are like water. One drop alone is no big deal but putting a few hundred drops on the same flat piece of glass and they will all eventually get together because of hydrogen bonding. Cages tend to stick together in packs while moving along and there always seems to be a gap between one group and another. Using this gap allows the rider to pretty much ride alone until the one group catches the other like the one drop getting together with all the others in terms of water. The key here is to maintain a speed where you can move from the ons gap (a safe place) to another gap. Playing with cages, trucks and especially 18 wheelers is a bad idea and one where the bike will loose every time.

Great idea J.......

I think rather than "wave them around"- I would catch a clean strip, drop into the passing lane, apply the brakes and let them slip by on the right then fall in behind them.Kind of a reverse pass but I want the danger IN FRONT of me rather than behind. I've got better throttle/stability/control so the road courtesy falls on my shoulders as those semis take a ton of straight road to pass....I would anticipate their response would be first "what the $#@ is that idiot up too" followed quickly by "hey, I appreciate that buddy". This let's us both go on our merry way at our own pace. The last thing I personally want is to be forced to speed up because of a perceived danger behind me....If I felt it was safe to be driving faster, I would be.

Try sitting behind a transfer truck for a few miles and after you get tired of being pelted by rocks, dust and such you move back in front and twist that throttle to put that same problem way back there.

The guys ahead of you are idiots too. :p

They're all idiots, this is a given and they're all out to kill you too. The question boils down to where you feel safest. I like being out front, way out front....

gotten comfortable riding with flow of traffic now, but i still do try to stay off the freeways when i can avoid it.

not much fun riding the freeways anyway compared to the scenic routes.

No doubt the scenic routes can be awesome but remember, those scenic routes can often be distractive in nature. Stay focused while on them as things tend to come about when you least expect them.
