Routine checks

Ok, I have been riding for about 3-4 days now on the FZ6, and apart from essentially visual inspections I have not done any checks on the bike. I dont want to keep riding it without being aware of what to be aware of.

I know you have to check tire pressure and more or less thats about it.

So, what are the routine checks you perform on your bike every time you take it out? Once a week? Once a month? 2-3 times a year?

I check tire presure and the chain. I find them the most important parts of my bike.

oil level
brake function (kinda' important)
steering/forks/shock
lights... brake and running, etc
...
kickstand(s)

Yeah, check your tire pressure, your chain, your oil, other fluids. It's all mapped out in the owner's manual. There's a post on here if you lost yours:

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask, has anyone noticed that in the owners manual periodic maintenance/checks are on 1000km, then on 10000km and then on every 10000km , and in the service manual, periodic maintenance/checks are on 1000km, then on 7000km, and then on every 6000km??

So for example, in service manual it says to change the oil on 7000km, and in the owners manual it says on 10000km.

Which to follow??

I change my oil every 1000 miles very religiously, probably not necessary but thats what I do.
