hey guys, this is my first posts and i was hoping you people could help me,
i got a 2005 fz6 fazer with 11,000 in total on clock, and my problem is, after i have done quite a few miles like 30+ miles, the engine at low speed won't idle it just stalls, like at junctions and traffic lights, but starts again just fine. but while am travel and normal speed i can tell i got a problem, becuase the exhurst tone goes deep like a racing exhurst,(btw its got factory exhurst on). and the gear changes are rough with a jerk( like a novice changing gears). its slowly getting worst, but it i turn key off and then on it will be fine for 1 mile or so but if i turn bike off for some time and come back to a cold bike then i have maybe 30+miles of well behaved bike.
its like theres something getting to hot and needing to cool down ( btwthere plenty on engine coolened.)and talked to diffrent people casually and they said its damp. but we had good warm dry weather and its still doing it, and i talked to local bike garge and lad there couldn't think what it could be. Could it be knackered spark plugs and ht leads? but surly it would doing this from off.or maybe needing a new filter of some sorts? Please help fellow fazer owners....

Welcome :welcome:

Have you checked your air filter? Sounds like you might be running a bit rich from a dirty/clogged filter. I am sure others will chime in with some other things to look at as well.

Does it sound like it drops down to two cylinders? Could be a bad coil pack too.

What do you mean you people? :BLAA:

Welcome to the forum!

I would check the following:

Idle adjustment

Air filter could be in bad condition

You might also want to grab some seafoam from autozone and mix half bottle with a full tank of gas. It will clean your injectors.

Bad spark plugs could be another factor.

Welcome!!! Sounds like a classic case of bad TPS to me, do you know if the recall has been done?

:welcome:to this great forum!

TPS Throttle Position Sensor would be a good place to start. Make sure your vent lines (Could be kinked under the tank) from the fuel tank are not kinked. A good fuel inject cleaner is always good to use. I use Sea Foam.

I've seen some FZs with intermittent kill switch problems. Rock that kill switch on/off 25 times to maybe clean the contacts. If it clears up, get a new one or if you're inclined, service it your self.

Your idle should be set to 1250-1300 rpm. :D

hey guys thank you much for your quick and excellant replies, i have wrote a list of all your ideas and will looks at each one, i see this TPS things seems to be popping up in other threads, i will ask the local dealer about recalls. some of the things a can look at myself and other like the tps and idle adjustment i will have to ask some one to help me, i not brillant with mechanics but i want to learn. oh and i guess the seafoam stuff is the america version of Redex that we use in here in england.i do use this but a little at a time am a bit scared of putting to much in a changing the fuel mix. thanks again
