I have an 07 fz6, want to do the airbox mod and was looking for a used airbox, does anyone know which years are compatible with an 07?

on partshark.com it only 11 bucks for the top part that u have to mod!

What is the actual benefit for modding the box?

In a nutshell it helps the engine to run a little more efficient by removing some of the restriction that the stock setup has. So basically it helps the engine suck in air easier, and the less effort the engine has to use to run, the better it runs

There's an airbox mod (desnorkel) for the SV650 but I read that it should be done unless you're running aftermarket exhaust. Is this the same for the FZ6? Want to make sure before I make any changes.

Ah Yes, the Airbox Mod :shakehead:
I lived with this mod for about 2 weeks, and to be honest, as soon as I got a few spare moments I ordered a new Airbox Cover and took it back to OEM.
I jumped in a bit to enthusiastically with this mod as I had only had my bike for 3 years with no mods at the time, so when I ran across and joined the forum, I felt like a kid in a Candy Store :drool:
I enjoyed the novelty of the Airbox Mod for the first couple of days, but,
- after reading other comments, Wavex's insightful comments in particular (See additional Airbox Mod Threads for more on these),
- lifting the tank and removing the airbox to do bd43's headlight mod, and seeing the beating that my airfilter was taking,
- and, growing tired of the new sound and feel of my bike.
I decided to return my air intake system to the carefully thought out and engineered specs originally utilized by the fine engineers at Yamaha.
I am a firm believer in modding, but this one just didn't work for me.
Lesson learned: After this mod, I began putting a little more thought and research into the mods I was doing
