Stick, skid, drift,pow, wow

So normally when I am commuting with all the other sheeple I fall right in line...well I just happened to wake up about 15min late. Any other time I would have just call my boss and told him but for some reason I said nope not today (first mistake) so I proceded to try to make up time on the backroads where there is little to no traffic. I wasnt going super fast knowing that I just installed another front tire last night plus its dark out still. Well all is good and well for about 10min until I come around a turn about 60ish and see a BIG stick right in my line, first reaction came from habit is clutch in, done then I hit what felt like a tree in the road, rode it out untill it felt smooth (clutch still in) and then back tire locked up and I have a brain fart....ummm what gear am I in....so I began to ease out on the clutch (rear tire still sliding going 50ish) apparently the "log " got caught inbetween my chain and sprocket that's what was causing the sliding but I didnt know that at this point so I assume im in 1st or 2nd and maybe thats why its locked up (keep in mind that all this happened over the corse of maybe 3 secs if that) so assuming that im in a lower gear, instead of up shifting, I pin it and pop the clutch (I remembered what a idiot told me...when in doubt power out...)dont ask why I remembered that at this instance but I did so anyways...tire sliding, bike starting to get sideways at 50ish, and I pop the clutch with it bouncing off the rev limiter.....and pow I herd what sounded like a gun shot (I guess it was the stick breaking) and the bike never came off the rev limiter as it lit the back tire up and sent me even more sideways...I slowly backed off the gas and she straightened back out but I would say that it actually drifted, tire spinning drifted, for at minimum 30ft...so once it straightened out I immediatly pulled over in a entrance to a neighborhood turned my bike off smoke a cigarette then smoked another cigarette and then called my boss to tell him I would be about 30min late......I would say that I just got extremely lucky

Fun!! And come on.. it shouldn't take 30 minutes to change underwear! :BLAA:

Glad you kept it upright!

I thought this was going to end with you in the ditch but on your side! Good job controlling it. I got a chuckle out of the "I remembered what an idiot told me...when in doubt power out!" :D

Honestly as soon as I hit the log or whatever malicious wooden object it was I thought it would end up with me in a ditch and was probably 65% luck 10% skill and 25% divine intervention that keep me upright and ya lol I left the underwear changing part out to try and save some face ;) , im still kinda shakin from it when it happened around 6am and it is now a 1/4 till 9..... so I guess ill will just take this on the chin as lesson learned, when heading to or from work its perfectly fine to fall in line with the sheeple

Your right, Maybe there was a spot of "Commando" that morning due to the late waking up?
Changing riding pants is a completely different ball game.

Holy crap!!

I guess in a sense, maybe the "when in doubt, power out" DID save you, maybe? The extra power applied broke the stick/log?

Either way, nice work! I'd like to think I'd have been able to save it, but I kind of doubt that'd be the case...
