'06 FZ6 questions- Bent rim and rear brake lever

Hello everyone. I just picked up my FZ6 a few weeks ago but a number of problems have kept me from riding it much (a dead battery right off the delivery truck, an ER_1 fault code). Yesterday I noticed these two things. The first picture shows what appears to be a bent rear brake lever...is it bent or is it supposed to be angled like that?

Here's the bent rim. What could have caused this and is it safe to ride on? If it's not safe, is the dealer able to repair it?

I would take the bike right back to them and find out what happened. No, the bent rim is not safe to ride on. You might get away with it but..... If it was sold to you with a bent rim they are crooks. Who sold that to you?

Brake lever is bent.

I agree with Cliff! I would not have even accepted off the truck. Hope you can get it rectified.

The brake lever is bent. You may be able to bend it back parallel to foot peg, but it may also break.
The rim must be changed out-do not ride until you do. With an alloy rim, a bend could result in a crack and sudden tire decompression.

I've ordered a new brake lever, but it seems that a new OEM front wheel costs $400-450 and I'm not going to pay that much money for something I shouldn't have to. I'm not sure how to get it to the dealer since I can't ride it; towing will be an expensive pain in the ass.

I guess this is the risk you take when you purchase any motor vehicle online and have it shipped to you. For what it's worth, this FZ6 came from Road Track and Trail in Wisconsin. I'll certainly be calling them tomorrow.

You can bend the brake lever back to the right shape pretty easily, Im told they are soft steel so that they will stand a slight bend back and forth w/out needing to replace at the slightest drop. I did mine to the same angle with a drop in the driveway one morning. took 5 min to take it off and adjust and re-fit.
The rim on the other hand, from what I have read is a throw away and should not have been sold like that unless it was advertised as damaged.

I just looked at the rim pic again, that looks like a new tyre too, maybe its the delivery mob that tipped it over and did something to the rim, just wondering!!

You can buy new levers for under $30 and if u live close too or in ga I can fix the rim

The cheapest I could find an OEM rear brake lever for was about $47...where might I look to find one for $30?

My plan is to buy a new front wheel, remove the damaged wheel with the tire on it and take both of them to the dealer. Will they be able to remove the old tire (which is actually brand new) from the bent wheel and place it on the new wheel?

Ebay, or a local cycle shop and ya they can remove the tire but some places are funny about mounting a tire that isnt theres back up you might have better luck at a local cycle shop there too and fyi the dealer will rape u

Post in the wanted forum!!!. I had the same problem and in a about a week i got someone who had one he was going to throw away in NEW condition. I bought it for ten bucks .
