In NY they have an option, they can give you a fix it ticket, which is usually the case or they can give you a full on "you have to pay this" defective equipment ticket....personally i'd just take this as an excuse to get some rockin' signals :thumbup:

It is not $10 anymore. 2 years ago I got a fix it ticket for no front plate(on my car of course), and it was either pay a fine of $170, or fix it, get it signed off, and pay $35. And that was 2 years ago, so I'm sure it's even higher now, as they jack up the penalties in a mad dash for revenue.

That's a total BS ticket too. I wouldn't even recognize it as legit. I'd crumple it up, throw it away, and the state could go F itself. Wanna arrest me for it? Come and get me then. I'd turn it into a greedy lawyers' wet dream, and turn it into a media circus. 300ft? Why would you need to see someone's signal from that far away?

Give the CHP office a call, and talk to someone high up the ladder. Be nice about it, but let them know that the ticket seems kind of unnecessary, and they just might throw it out. Worth a try at least!

Extremely UNLIKELY that by calling a supervisor and whining about the unfairness of the ticket that he/she will just dismiss it. They weren't there, don't know the situation and won't override their street officer because it 'seems kind of unnecessary' from your viewpoint. It's counterproductive all around. A note from your mommy telling the court what a nice son you are will be about as much help. It's a 'fix it' ticket .... why not just fix it?

It's ten bucks The registration is good enough. If a cop writes a ticket and mails it to you all he needs is the registration not the exact model.
Again it's ten bucks! I wouldn't fight it and use my gas and time for a $10 fix-it ticket. In California the officer can give you a fix-it ticket. You should fix it anyway! Use the energy to "Git Er Done!"

In Florida, they use the year bike, the brand and tag #, doesn't matter how many cc's, model, etc.

IMHO, fix it so you don't get pulled over again....

Is ignoring it, getting arrested, bike towed, bond out of jail, go back to court, pay towing/storage fee's, fixing damage from the tow really worth it???

Your lawyer won't beat that, period...

Stiil $35 is cheaper than $170
Shows you how long it's been since I had a fix-it ticket! I bet jail food is still nothing like it looks like on the menu though...
Totally agree they're looking for revenue but I don't know how dim his lights are so I don't have an opinion except to just fix it.
I've had those really bad LED's and you should always test them with 12 volt source before purchase.
I'm looking at LED type directionals now. I'll test them before purchase and if I was buying a brand on line I know are good I'd buy them but not an unknown light...

Your little scenario(in bold) is completely unrelated to this BS fix it ticket.

You'd be 100% right if this were a serious infraction. If it were for example, speeding, running a light, etc. But this isn't. Dim turn signals? That REALLY justifies a ticket? It's not just my viewpoint, it's unnecessary period. Maybe the OP was having electrical issues or something! I'm not saying he 100% should fight it or anything of the sort. I'm merely offering a suggestion that he can take or leave. That's all! It's not whining either, merely pointing out to the CO that it's surprising that he got a ticket for something so trivial and far too open to interpretation. And BTW, I've seen tickets like that thrown out before, so it can work, depending on the seriousness of course. Worse case? He just fixes it. I don't know why you got so offended by my simple suggestion, but whatever.

The law is the law, and if you ride on the rode you follow the rules of the road, no matter how silly you think it is. Your opinions doesn't count. You simply have to obey the law and you can't blame the police officer for applying the law. Respect the law!

I agree with Cliff, yes, its a BS ticket but the police officer was probably hunting for a another, more serious violation.
