Texas secures MotoGP round for 2013

Probably should start another thread, but I personally think no country should host more than 2 grand prix a season, except for extreme situations such as the disaster in Japan & Dorna not wanting to drop the round/a race totally as has been mentioned with Japan this year.

This should also be limited to only 3 countries on the calendar in the year hosting multi races.

I sorta agree, but Dorna is a marketing company, and will take the Championship wherever they see a financial benefit...am Guessing that the owners of the new track in Austin, Texas, would be making sure it is economically advantageous to Dorna to go there....

Plus, Moto GP has struggled to grab a stranglehoild in the American market over the years, even when Rainey, Lawson, Schwantz, Kocinski, Mamola, Spencer, Roberts,etc, where all at the front of the GP pack...

As for the 3 race thing, well Spain get's 3, 4 if you count Portugal....but then, they get massive crowds to all of those GP's, so it must make real good sense to be there....

You will never see a race in somewhere like New Zealand...just not worth the effort...in fact, i am surprised Australia even gets a round sometimes...we dont get the greatest crowds, but then Phillip Island is an amazing track...

Understand why there are 4 races in Spain, but if things remain the way they are in 2013 & Texas is added, that will mean:
Spain 4 Gp
Italy 2 Gp
USA 3 Gp (if Indy holds its place)

Out of an 18 Gp season, 50% of the races will be in 3 countries! Not exactly spreading the championship across the globe if this happens.
 
Now, hopefully Colin Edwards can stick around the next few years to have a race at his home state. I sure hope so, great guy, great talent.

I raced with Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden in WERA Formula 2 in the early 90's .I think around 90-91 Colin was on a TZ250 then and Nicky on a RS125 Me on a RD350 I beat Nicky a few times on my vintage 1975 RD350 but Colin was really fast on the 1990 TZ and kicked my ass. At the end of the season Nicky was beating me too. But I can say I beat the world champion LOL....

Please explain.....i have seen no signs of Colin Edwards getting the grumps....one of the most personable Moto GP pilots out there!

As far as i am concerned, Colin can stick around as long as he likes....he is married to an Aussie after all!

No, he's married to a yank. His dad is an Aussie and he owns a house in Victoria. That gives him some leeway.

He has just started to whine a bit these days - interview etc. Always complaining.

Don't get me wrong, in person, he is a great guy. Very accommodating to fans. Always happy to pose for a pic. :thumbup:
