I need a bigger tank!

How many kms do you guys and girls get per litre?
I am getting about 11.4 kms per litre and approx 150 to 160 kms between fill ups.
My commute is about 50kms on traffic free roads. Where I have heard it is very doable to travel at 130 - 150 ish kph.
I was just wondering?

if my conversions are right then that sentence should read.

is that right? if so, how are we getting such different milage?

I get 300km before the bars start flashing, however I rarely ride anywhere near 150,
I'd be walking in a few weeks I'm guessing if'n I tried that!

300-320 km per tank. Cruising speed of 120-140 kph. Bars are flashing when I fill up.

I had to plug my data into the machine to convert it to sensible units, but:

Out of 143 tanks, I have gotten 19.21kpl average, 16.55kpl min and 22.48kpl max. I get on average 291.1km per tank, and have gotten as high as 360.8km.

I've got 450 kms up on a new 2009 fz6n , so well before first running in service. I'm getting 14.7 km/litre.
not the best but I'm sure once everything has been checked/tightened or loosened as needed I will be able to give a another estimate

180km's before reserve, out of a hard ridden FZ6 doesnt sound unreasonable...it can get down to 120km's on the track...

I always got an average of 250-260 k's out of mine mate :thumbup:.... The XJR now gets an average of about 290-300 but its got a 21 litre tank...

I used to get 160 190km from my FZ6, and had it down to 127 at Mallala. I currently get 120-150 on Neo, so it certainly doesn't sound unreasonable to me

I mainly commute on mine these days, gets about 310 Km every 6 six days (52 Km round trip each day) then starts flashing. I get up to about 100 Km/h for a couple of Kms, but most of the ride is in 60 km/h zones.

Commuting all week (80km a day) I get around 250-270k's before reserve starts flashing.

When out for a ride depending on mood, have stretched a very nervous 370k's from a tank, and gotten a very frantic 220k's from a tank.

You can guess which ride was the most pleasurable

Any ride where you beat the crap out of your commuting mileage is awesome! Means you ate on it!!!

Interesting figures across the board. I guess what I can take from this is that its very throttle dependant . I wonder what the optimum speed is to maximise fuel efficiency?
I am spending three times the amount of money on fuel than I did 18 months ago. It has now become a serious consideration.

I was thinking the same thing, but came to the conclusion that to really get better mileage, a bike with a smaller displacement motor is needed.

However, I think that I would still ride a smaller displacement bike at higher RPM's:spank:? So it might not be as fuel efficient as I hoped.

Your right Neil :thumbup: The wife's little 250 V-Star gets very similar economy to my XJR..... It all comes down to the wrist , use it & you'll burn the motion lotion , be gentle , up change quicker at lower rpm's & it'll suck less Now we all know there isnt as much fun in that but it works for my commute , then I 'waste' fuel on weekends :rockon:
