Anyone up for a tour of Tassie!

Hmph! i perpetually need new tires. New front tomorrow. People ask me, "Hey Mike! What are you up to today?" My answer usually involves mention of, "Well I've gotta get a new tire put on".

Tried out Wolfman's Sena, and found it to be pretty groovy. Down sides...

The awful beep when trying to re-establish contact, due to loss of contact in the twisties.

The causing you to leave your phone lying around thing. (not joking. It's got me and Jamie).

The damn it's only borrowed. Bugga I've got to take it off now. Lol. (It is pretty awesome).

As for fit. The HJC Carbons have deep ear pockets, so it was pretty comfy. Maybe try under the lining. I still think it would be plenty loud enough.

If it's the actual unit on your ear fitting and removing helmet, just try to pull the strap outwards harder as you slide it on or off. This also pulls the padding back towards the shell of the helmet, so it will probably help. Then shove your fingersup the side of your head and make sure your ear is not bent over. Just push the padding in with your fingers to do this. Aside from that I dunno if I can help much more.

Yeah, I tried pulling the strap in more, but I was sick and feeling sorry for myself. I really had NO patience

Hmmm...the Sena....the age old problem of earphones, and helmets, and your ears taking a hammering! For me, i just had to get a helmet with a decent sized recess for earplugs...cant wear normal bud type headphones, as they hurt my ears, and as it is, even without earplugs, my ears tend to get very sore after a long long days ride, just from them being pushed up against the side of a firmly fitting helmet...i hate a loose helmet! so generally i go for a helmet that fits very snugly...

the bonus of the XR1100 helmet for me, is that it has this snug fit , but with plenty of room around te ears, and around the mouth area...the helmet was actually designed with an intercom system in mind...hence the cable channels, the speaker recess's, and the larger area in front of the mouth...

now as for using the Sena with other helmets....those speakers are not very big, and should fit behind your ear pockets i reckon...yeah and as Mikey said, you may need to adjust how you put on, and take off your helmet, pulling both straps as wide apart as possible, to open up the helmet a bit more, to make getting it on and off easier....i have to do this anyway, when i wear of neckaclava....

Same with me and earpieces - I can only use the Bose silicone ones (bloody $150!) but they don't hurt me.

Lid isn't even a year old yet, can't see the boss man letting me get another one yet :shakehead: I called him bossman, but we all know he's not.....

Yeah, just have to put up and shut up I think. Pull the straps as far apart as I can, and try it when I'm in a good mood

Until the Sena, I never had an issue with it. Love it.

Like I said, I was ill, miserable and wasn't sharing Mikes enthusiasm for his new toy. Maybe tonight I will be happier?

Jess is sick too...has the Flu....i hope you girls are fighting fit before we leave on our epic journey...your gonna need all the energy you have got...especially on the first day of our trip...long and boring ride to PI to get us going! Probably the most boring day's riding on the whole trip!

Hmmmm, it might be a longer ride than expected, we may have to take a detour or two, as the flooding in Victoria, is right where we have to ride through to get to PI the fast way...

You would think so, with it being pretty much 4 weeks away today! that's right people...just 4 weeks till we get on the go!!!!

I am soooo looking forward to it, i so need a decent holiday...

Cant wait to just relax!

Running through the final check list at the moment , with 4 short weeks to go :rockon: the Humpy's require a rear Metzeler on both bikes (prolly be Satdee) , waiting on Kel's saddle bags to arrive from the US (should be mid next week) , service on the XJR (weekend before we leave) , 2x sheepskin seat covers & a pair of Grip Puppies & we are good to go :rockon: :rockon:

Mike has serviced the XJR. Grip puppies - Cost US$10 and were quoted US$50 for freight

A good friend on the forum ended up getting them delivered to his house for me for free then posting to me for, about US$3!

Nice one Humpy! I put the bike together into touring mode last night...fitted my homemade pannier rails, tank bra, top case rack, screen...mainly to give me' something to mount my GPS, and IPhone, and the sheepskin seat cover.

I am going to leave the crappy tyres that are on the bike on for the ride to PI...then get a set of tyres fitted at PI, before we hit the glorious curves of Tassie...

Going to book that one in today!!!

Will be pulling the PC111 off the black bike...downloading a Leo Vince map, and jamming it on the touring steed before we go...

Only thing is i dont have the Power Commander Disc anymore, nore the Usb connector for the PC111????

I reckon i will be able to get around not having the disc by going to the Power Commander website, and i am hoping that when i pull the PC111 out of the black bike, it's a pretty standard plug for the USB connection to PC...cause i also have to save the TB map for when i get back from Tassie...

I am gonna need all the grunt the bike can muster, being 2 up, with a truckload of gear....but i have put Jess on a diet...just in case! :spank::ban:
