Rightio, well, yesterday, i took possesion of a 48 tooth Vortex rear sprocket for my streetfighter FZ6, and i gotta say, i love the new gearing combo of 14/48 (-2 front, +2 rear)!

The acceleration from a standstill is awesome...in fact, if you give the bike a handful of throttle, and drop the clutch at anything from about 5000rpm, it's becomes all about keeping the front wheel on the ground!

Have not got out on the highway yet, but am guessing that 6th gear is no longer anything like an "overdrive" gear, am guessing the bike will just pull hard all the way to redline!

Am also guessing that top speed will now be under 200km/h, but that does not bother me! I am just in love with all the extra drive from 5000rpm upwards in any gear!!!

For those that like to go hard...this gearing combo is the "Ducks guts"...just awesome!

Anyway, no real point to this thread, other than to say...Yee-Hah!

I have been on the edge of pulling the trigger for a 14T in the front, but I have to ride on the highway if I want to go anywhere. Let me know how it goes. I am really interested in this.

There's a 48 on e bay at the mo that I'm sorely tempted in.
The majority of my riding is back roads and that sounds better than dancing around the gears looking for power.

YEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAA Ride 'em cowboy  I got nothing else to say so i'll just YEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAA again with ya :D

Yep, no other way to describe it! It's an audible Yeeeeee-haaaaaaaaah that comes out of my mouth uncontrollable, bit like when i get round a corner rather briskly....then it's a "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee"! Yes i am a "child", and i refuse to grow up!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Let us know how it is after a while riding it that way! You Rock.

I have had 14/47 before, and that was not an issue when touring, in fact it was good, especially 2 up, with a truckload of gear....helped "lug" the extra load lots! and at 110km/h in top gear, you would be sitting right on 7500rpm in top gear, just perfect for overtaking, just twist and go straight past the cagers, without changing down a gear, or two!

Am guessing, this wont be much different....it's just like having a bike with more power down lower in the rev range....

You just loose the "sweet as a little puusycat" below 8000rpm's around the city....and considering i dont commute, this really aint an issue for me at least...

Horses for courses, if i was a "commuter", i think i would hate it....but i aint a commuter! :D

I have a tendency to do the same thing when driving my car....much to the amusement of my 11 year old son, and Jess! So much in so, i have been known to go "round the block" for another go, just so we can all scream WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE together!

:D
