OEM Seat Mod

dropped my seat off today to a guy I've done some dye work for in the past. I'll post pics and review when finished. He's going to cup the main portion of the seat, shave down those nasty hard lines that wreak havoc on my inner thighs and recover with new material. He had a good idea on what I'm after from previous mc seat customers.

I just cant bring myself to pay for a Corbin or TS and risk not getting what I want or taking the chance on paying for a premium product that doesn't come with premium service.

If it's possible, have him replace the OEM foam with better quality stuff while he's at it. The seat foam isn't all that good when it's brand new.... if your bike's seat is 4 years old, the foam will be breaking down, and 'sacking out'.

Took a ride down today to try out the modifications before he recovers it. Feels good, should be done early next week and I'll post pics and a review.

Picked up today, closest comparison I have to this point is the Corbin on my old Suzuki. So far I like, will report after first extended run.





Passenger seat looks a bit bloated yes, but function over form to make the lady happy. I had an extra inch of foam added.

Hard to say, I know the guy and we do some bartering. Needless to say I didn't pay off the street pricing. I assume this could be done for roughly $300 or under.

Yeah, the stock seat is one of the sexiest stock banana seats I've seen on a bike. It's just not that comfortable though! I've also realise that you should never sacrifice function for form now. Although sometimes there is a limit how much form I'm willing to sacrifice for extra function if you see what I mean. I don't think that seat is for me, but my gf is too scared to ride with me anyway. Personally I prefer to describe myself as an enthusiastic rider rather than a dangerous one! :thumbup:

Anyone considering this should absolutely do it. I went out twice over the weekend and both times well over 2 hours and not once had the "need" to get off the seat. Every bit as comfortable as the Corbin I had on my old Suzuki.

Riding position is more relaxed feeling, which will take some slight getting used to during aggressive riding on crooked roads. The lady thanked me multiple times for the extra inch of cushion on the rear. Sure it's not sexy as been pointed out....but it was later!
