New guy here, howdy

Well i bought a 2006 fz6 a month ago and absolutely love it. Its my first in-line 4. The guy i bought it from told me about this site although i didn't catch a user name, a guy named scott from north Florida. This bike has surprised me in every faucet. It runs right beside my kid brothers 04 600rr, well maybe not right beside but damn close. I swore i would never own a naked bike but i got such a screaming deal on it couldn't pass it up, and i'm glad i didnt.

I have put all the (street) bikes i have owned in my garage along w/ the fz6.

I have a few questions about the fz that i couldnt find answers for:

what is a fazer?
When did the fz6r come out and what is main differences in it from the fz6?
Why can't i find a pipe for less that 500 bucks? im not picky i just want something loud as possible, dont care about anything else.

I look forward to contributing to the forum and gettin to know the great fz6 folks.

Welcome! As for your questions your questions...I will give you an answer for #3. It is an under tail exhaust, they are all expensive. If you want loud just baffle the stock pipes. Seems like quite a few people on here have done that. Just search if for a how to thread.

This is a great forum with great members. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here!

I think I can answer some of the difference on the FZ6r. It's aimed at a little different niche in the market. It came out a little over a year ago. It produces less horses (78 Crank?). The FZ6 is rated 98 crank. Rear wheel HP will of course be lower ratings. It's heavier. Has a different type frame and I believe it's steel. Full plastics with graphics. Four into one, under chassis exhaust. It's a good looking bike.
IMO the FZ6 is a bike that really pulls off being called the Swiss army knife bike.
I've heard people call the FZ6R more a beginners bike but I think any of these bikes must be respected and they can surprise you with their performance. The FZ6 will seem like a totally different bike when you start playing above 8k and can give you an ear to ear grin with some suspension mods, aftermarket cans, and maybe a few xtra ponies with a Power Commander & dyno. I've seen friends on this forum take on a R1. One on the FZ6 Yes it's the pilot but you have to have something to work with and the FZ6 is just plain up to it!

i looked into that..seems easy enough i just dont want to ruin my stock pipe and im a little worried it will throw off proper backpressure causing small pita problems 5k miles down the road.
