Pager alarm amperage consumption

Hey guys

I've got this new alarm installed a week ago and (most probably) it killed my battery after 2 days.

I've checked the amperage consumption when the alarm is in ARMED mode
and it turned out to be approx 7.2 miliamper on the multimeter

Is it high? doing a quick calculation yields that a NEW battery (10A/h) will hold 60 days with the alarm in ARMED mode.

Not knowing where you broke into the circuit to measure the current, it's tough to say what that alarm has done to your total consumption. 7 milli amps shouldn't be too stressful in itself, considering that's .007 amps/hr.

What do you get for a reading, when you put your meter in line with the battery? (I am assuming you measured at the alarm input, rather than the total current consumed by the bike...)

1) At the alarm input, off
2) At the alarm input, armed
3) At the battery, alarm off
4) At the battery, alarm armed

The LCD display also consumes a very small amount of current.... but that will not make the battery go flat in less than a few weeks, if the battery is in good condition.
