Nice Rides & Roads to ride in Oz!...post your pics

Well, we're back from the South West of WA and it was fantastic. Apart from a sore backside (I will look into another seat) and bruises all over my legs (some idiot on a Speed Triple kept flicking stones up at me....) it was a great ride.

Parts of the road on the way down were a little bumpy, but the rest were great. Weather held up too - very mild down there - 28'C in the day. Perfect. :D

First map is ride down - Bullsbrook - Byford - Dwellingup - Collie - Mumbleup - Boyup Brook - Bridgetown. 2nd map is showing the fantastic twisty roads outside Bridgetown and route home.

Stayed in a great B&B - Forde House. Excellent. Even had a possom come visit us in the dining room for breakfast. :Flash:

Saturday - went along Brockman Hway to Nannup then the Ballingup/Nannup Road to Balingup. OMG - first sign said 40km's twisting roads ahead - HEAVEN.
Absolutely fantastic. If we didn't want to go to The Cidery in Bridgetown for a few bevvies we would have probably done that road 3 times on Saturday. Learnt to lean my bike a little that day.....

Narrowly missed a couple of rather large snakes on Saturday/Sunday - first one was @ 4ft tiger snake. 2nd one a 4-5 ft black snake - don't know what type. For the next 5 km's I was expecting the bloody things to come up next to my speedo and bite me, even though I knew I missed them LOL

Sunday morning, after packing up, decided to ride those roads again. Even with the back pack on - still gave it a fang. I was in heaven. Took the South Western Hwy home - via Donnybook (apple country) - Dardanup & Harvey (cattle country) - Brunswick Junction - Byford - Bullsbrook. Just missed the storm chasing us all the way from Byford.

Gotta say, my backside was NUMB. My new Teknic Chicane leather jacket did me proud - perforations let just the right amount of breeze through.

Here are some pics (sorry, don't know how to tag my pics...)
1st/2nd pics - on way down - Dandalup Dam, 3rd 'Kazza' in disguse, 4th the bikes and a "bush dunny"

Looks awesome from the pics, and sounds even better!
You could try looking into a airhawk seat cover thingy for those long trips, I've heard alot of rave reviews about them, and they aren't too bad price wise. Even better they are Australian owned and made.

Some more pics...

1st pic, Nannup Pub, 2nd parked along the Blackwood River, 3rd part way along Balingup/Nannup road - ooh yeah - 4th my baby - then some random ones

Didn't get too many pics through the twisties for two reasons:
1 really not many places to safely stop
2 having too much fun riding them :D

Thanks for the photo's Kazza, some nice Aussie scenery, and 2 very nice bikes there....living the life!

Sounds like there was some great roads to be had, and nice to hear you got the thing on it's side, where it belongs! :D

As for the seat thing...dont get one of those silly cushion things (Airhawk)...they are crap! unless yopu like bouncing off your seat, every bump you hit....i can tell you this from 1st hand experience...you would be better using it as a "roid" pillow!

My suggestion, is get some straight drag bars, does not alter the riding position much, but it does get the weight of your coaxic bone, and, or arse! without putting excessive weight on your wrists, shoulders....for comfort on the bike, it's my favourite mod.

Thanks for the pics. Certainly looks like a great trip. Jealous as of the both of you that you have a partner that rides:thumbup:. Thanks for sharing.

Shove a small folded up towel in the back of your leathers. :BLAA: Look terrible but would work...depends how much discomfort you are in.

Another tip. Move your buttoomshk off the seat as though you're going to hang off in a turn, but keep your body leaning back over the bike, so it can keep rolling upright. This puts your thigh over the seat, and you ride like that for a couple minutes, then swap sides it is awesome relief..

Hang your feet off the back of the rear pegs (have your shins sitting on them) and this will feel good for a change of pozzie. Knees over the sliders for more relief. Jamie's fave, you kinda hang your feet just off the road. I put my shins on the back of the front pegs. Stop and take pics if you aren't in a hurry.

That's it...that's all I've got...lol. I can say also that for me, the throttle lock I got before I went to P.I. was a great move. On open road with good vis, you flip it on and shake your hand un-numb (Or load up the throttle so it's pulling hard and snap the lock on with your knees over the sliders, and pretend you're holding ape hangers and zoom past your offsider like you're riding a chopper, that accelerates like an FZ1:eek:....lol.:BLAA:)

And now your "bike gymnastics" class is finished for today!

Might have to check bars out. Gotta try something before my next really big ride.

You're right - it's pretty cool riding with your other half. He does worry too much about me though. He always says he panics when he looks in the mirror and I've dropped back and he can't see me.

As for being comfortable, I'm about ready to try anything at the moment. I did hang my feet off the road for a while, and I think stopping to take pics is the best way to go. Gets the blood flowing. :Flash:

MCS do drag bars....they only cost about $50, but you will need different bar ends, as the screw in OEM Bar ends wont work...and you wont need to re-route, lengthen, or shorten any cables...

Couple of hundred km's from Bunbury, but definitely an easy day trip.

If I wasn't still on my L's I would have had a drink in the pub. Unfortunately 0.00 blood alcohol reading for me until June. Probably won't change anything - I don't think I'll ever have a drink if I'm riding. I'm silly enough sober ;)

Beautiful countryside around there.
