which ebc pads...
fa 199 (hi performance organic, carbon graphite or sintered)
fa 199hh (Double-H with sintered copper alloy )

I think I'm braking kind of hard, hard enough for the brakes to smell.........
and now that they are gone, why not improve them...
I need something for everyday street use, but once in a while I do a curved road racing!!!!

Thanks for your comments

I use:

EBC Pads - Front: FA199 (361-1996)
EBC Pads - Rear: FA174 (361-1742)

Love em!

Details here: Boneman's FZ6 Site - EBC Brake Pads

Can I ask why you are needing to brake that hard that it's causing your brakes to 'smell'? Do you not downshift and use engine compression braking in conjunction with applying your brakes? Just curious.

EBC HH  love em.

And get braided lines as well if you don't already have a set.

@ Boneman : Engine braking isn't going to have such a big effect on your braking distance, it helps a bit ... but. Plus heavy engine braking is going to have extra stress on you tranny, and isn't really worth it. Brake with the brakes.

You'll get better braking with the organic, and less squeal.

Ceramic or sintered alloys will fade less with heavy braking though.

Either way, you can't go wrong with EBC, I've used their pads on several different bikes, street and dirt over the years.

Keep in mind that the harder the pads the more the rotors wear. (It's a trade-off) Pads are cheaper than rotors. JMO

Yes I also downshift, I'm just braking really hard...
Last thursday 6 of us went out for a little road race, I was in front after couple of minutes....I was riding really fast, and had to brake hard to enter curves...
I even got boiling brake fluid..(it wouldn't brake anymore)...
I'll be changing fluid and pads now..
Thanks

yup, always read about this. and people from other forums mentioned that ebc hh wears the rotors quite alot.

sidenote: i also read that using 19x20 brake pumps also wears the rotor off faster? pardon my technical ignorance.

currently using brembo rcs (turned to 20) with steel brake lines.. satisfied with it. for now.

Ok, I'll bite and try to be the voice of reason. If you're riding hard enough on the street to over heat your brakes and fluid, you must be riding like a maniac. Please slow down before you kill yourself or someone else. There's a time and a place to ride like you're describing, and it's not on public streets.

Thanks for the advice!!
We do this late knight on a lonely road......
don't worry man, I don't go fast where there is traffic!

I'll be posting new results with my new ebc brakes....
probably my brake fluid isn't boiling, it may have some humidity!
From here, I see if I shoud get some ss lines!!

well, I put the ebc fa199 pads, and I am not as satisfied as was wanting to be...
I have to pull lever harder.....
But anyways, I think I am having other problems with the brake...
I even have to pull with 3 fingers sometimes,,,,, this really sucks....

What is brembo rcs? and what does "turned to 20" mean?

How much did the Brembo brake set you back?

Thanks,

Dennis

brembo rcs radial master cylinder. or brake pump as local forums here would like call it.

link for more info
i bought it 2nd hand, so wont be a fair comparision. its about SGD$500 for a brand new 1 here.

turned to 20mm, pivot distance. anyway, i have switched to 18mm. :BLAA:
