You guessed it....RANT TIME!.

Went out to wash my bike tonight.....yeah, I know, it's Saturday night and I should get a life:BLAA:.... and I was on my way home, (through the twisties of course) when I was coming up to one of my fave bends...a nicely cambered 25kay R/H corner (The equivalent of a L/H turn for the North American folks). I see a set of headlights approaching from my right and I immediately slowed down a smidgin (just in case), but part of my brain (the intuitive side I guess) said," If you don't head out wide and brake hard you will die!"

So who am I to argue with.....well....me:don'tknow:....so I did what I was told.

Then I looked at this (sorry).useless, f%^^stick, mongrel, C$%^ to see him at the apex of the bend, where I would've been right then had I not pulled out, Completely on my side of the road with the wheels on full lock and ABS working:shakehead:...he'd just seen me:disapprove:.

Point is, he thought it was OK to use both lanes, 'cause he can see if anything is coming:banghead:.....only if he pushed the b#$%s on his forehead out of the way first.

I had nowhere to turn around so I had to ride up the road a ways, then hoot back, but I'm pretty certain I caught up to the right vehicle, 'cause he did it again at another bend (with an intersection on it no less) while I was behind him:tard:.

Silver Subaru in a 4WD format, not a car with the plates XNP980.

Needless to say if I ever see this steaming t^&* at the servo I'll spend a couple bucks on some liquid education for him. Have to start carrying some matches I guess:sinister:....lol.

Another case of, "I'm alive because I can dodge the f%^&wits." Yup...best we keep targetting speed:thumbdown:.

Rant complete. I hope it was as good for you as it was for me:smoking:

Cheers
Mike

LOL....I was thinking something a little more personal.

Call it.....partial cremation:eek::D

It's just part of the game -- your skill helped you and that's normal (at least around here). Rule #1, people are stupid. Good skills and intuition always help. Every time, I've experienced a close call and got away, I shrug it off as another example of Rule #1. I've never had a close call as bad as that one though.

I'm constantly trying to keep my accident avoidance skills sharp -- even to the point where I ride very conservatively and let that moron on the other bike beat me on the highway (no thanks, I don't weave in 5pm traffic because it scares people and pisses them off ).

You did good so be done with this. That dimwit will get his someday -- no worries. I believe in Karma.

Thanks mate. Yeah I know, but having a rant helps get it out of your system:D. (besides the entertainment factor...lol.)

The number of times I have had to dodge someone on my side of the road would have to be in the 50's in the last 20 months. And one where I was going too hard and was too close to the centre line to dodge, that broke the beast.

It's not just cars either.....seems to be mainly 4WD's but there is a sprinkling of bikes in the mix as well. It doesn't matter if you're on it or not either. If they catch you at the right time, and give you nowhere to go you're scrooged.

Might be time to take the tripod, a picnic basket and a deck chair into the hills and set up the camera to show how bad the problem is. Greater than 50% of drivers think it is OK to use the other side of the road, so they don't have to turn the steering wheel as far.(It's not 'cause they're going fast either).

Ok.....lol...rant really complete now:BLAA:

Yea I was talking with someone whoes son had a friend in a major accident, (on a corner) and apparently he told her that when he rides he often cuts corners..... I felt like smacking my head against the table.
Cutting corners (ie onto wrong side of road) on a bike = suicide.

That being said if I see anyone in a 4wd I know immediately that they are at least partially mentally ill, bought the vehicle because they are incapable of picking up the most basic of driving/road skills, and need something they can kill anything they hit, while not even suffering a bruise themselves.
Yes I live in the city and I can 100% say there is no reason for having a 4wd. I do mainly mean that large ones, but the amount of smaller 'city 4wds' around also owned by morons is amazing.

Oh and just another thing I have noticed.... people in Toyota's.... they should come with a giant sticker on each side which flashes "I'm a F***ING M***N" they seem to think they are the only people on the road.

Them and people with a "Baby on board" sticker, apparently that means "I've got sh*t for brains, and you REALLY NEED TO WATCH OUT"

I'm not even going to get started on a certain group of people either.... because it would be racist. But in the last week I had a woman and child step directly in front of another rider on a main road who luckily managed to miss them without injury, and several others pull out directly into traffic (some in front of me) without even looking, and then another who at a set of lights about 10 cars back from the traffic light saw the light go green, and BEFORE the car in front even moved he slammed down his accelerator and absolutely smashed into the rear of the still stationary car in front. Was hilarious as it wasn't me, would have totally taken out anyone on a bike though. Oh and the car infront was brand new, and looked like it was being test driven for sale near alot of car yards.

I also like how 'speeding' is an issue. But I guess thats because its politically incorrect that we round up all the retard drivers and just shoot them in the head. It might seem like a loss of life at first, but the long term effect of saving all those lives on the road would be worth it I swear.

Actually come to think of it, about 75% of the people on the roads seem to have sh*t for brains, a further 20% are only just acceptable drivers, and then there is the remaining 5% who are skilled, courteous and not dicks.

Mate, you will get no arguments from me. I've been paying close attention to the road fatalities this year, and I've noticed that most of them aren't caused by speed. Speed will certainly affect the severity of the the smash, but is not generally the cause:rolleyes:.

National road toll reaches 64 - Yahoo!7 News

Sounds like it's lucky she didn't hit someone else. What's she doing dodgeing a koala anyhow. Harsh as it sounds she should have hit it. Does it pay taxes etc.? I nearly got cleaned up by a dips$%^ dodgeing a ****atoo by swerving completely onto my side of the road....WTF? Stinking parot means more to this dude than human life. Around 50% of 2007 fatalites invloved a tree or pole on the side of the road.....Where is the massive campaign to remove these dangerous objects from such proximity?.....Yeah right:Flip:!

Set up some more radars and we're good to go. Removing these objects can drop the road toll a staggering 50%.....shows how interested the Gov't is with safety versus revenue. They could even pay for it using the massive amount of revenue produced from speeding fines:rolleyes:.

One of the biggest factors with road fatalities aside from trees is rainfall. Low rainfall usually equates to low fatalities and for high rainfall the opposite is true....Sounds like a driver training/road design issue to me.

The answer? More speed cameras:confused:...lol....what a screaming joke.

But I've been noticing an alarming trend (and i do spend a lot of time on the road in the hills) in the number of drivers willing to save energy by straightlining corners. It is increasing very steadily. This isn't due to high speed.....it is just sheer laziness, as I go faster around these bends in my big station wagon with knackered OEM suspension that is 15 years old and I can easily stay in my lane. So due to laziness these w$&^*%s are willing to risk my life:spank:.

There has to be a way of getting the Gov't to address these issues according to their level of danger....after all....dead people don't pay taxes.

I'm not blaming the police directly, as it seems to me that Constable Smith in his car with his offsider doesn't decide policy.

Anyhow, I'm going to sell my bike soon and do my twisty riding in a Semi:eek:....lol...This ought to solve the problem in pretty short order. Besides...I really should put my truck licence to use.:D

Man I love a good rant:cheer:...lol.

Cheers
Mike

Yea sadly we live in a country where the Govt is interested in two things: Money, and almost as important is public opinion.
Sadly public opinion turns sour when you start targetting bad drivers, because thats the majority of the population.
Target speeders, people in custom vehicles, or people trying to park for work or outside their own home and its all fair.......

The biggest thing they could possibly do for the road toll in general is just increase driver education. Make people take at least 20 hours of Govt approved driving lessons on their L's, including a proper driving course focused on safety and control.
They also need to really start targetting everyone not just young people, there are many many older drivers who aren't aware of current road rules, or who feel that being older entitles them to free reign on the road.
Young L and P platers get sneared at and massively targetted, but what about the people who aren't just learning and inexperienced who can't even maintain a straight line or stay in their lane, can't merge into a spot that would take a petrol tanker, and who aren't aware of the use of the blinker.

Motorcycling safety has been extremely good in the past years despite enormous growth in the number of riders, what did the government do? They increased the P period for a motorcycle to 3 years, which means EVEN LONGER capped at a speed below the max on the open roads.
If a police officer can literally tell me that moving slower than traffic which means being overtaken constantly, and not being able to merge properly is safer than just going to speed limit I will literally laugh in his face and quite rightly tell him he is a moron (on a bike, in a car your more protected and visible).
I have MANY times had people overtake me and apparently forget I am there and try and merge into me. I've been riding a few years and practically expect it, but newer riders? The Govt makes it even riskier to be on the road with retarded regulations aimed at keeping the good for nothing morons who think road safety is removing everyone they don't like from the road.

Motorcycles are targetted because they are fast. Why don't we start targetting anyone with a vehicle that moves faster than 140km/h, thats basically everyone afterall....

Anyone heard about the new 'safety cams' its a built in speed camera on red light cameras that is always active. Thats right now we will have idiots slamming on their brakes at the first sign of a orange light to try and avoid a speeding/redlight fine 'just incase'.
Seriously who the hell even researched the kind of effect these are going to have on the road, it doesn't take a genius to see the MAJOR issues they will cause.

As you said over christmas we had record deaths on the road, which I think we can safely say are mainly attributed to people not used to driving on national roads or for extended periods, or just lacking driving skills.
It definately wasn't a huge majority of speeders.

What we need is a new system, starting with the politicians, if they suggest something and it has a negative effect on the roads, ie more deaths, they are tied to the road on a blind corner and we can see how long they last. I bet they would really start pushing driver education if this was the way it worked.

+1 on loving a good rant too :P

I think i need a Beer, a bex , and a lil lie down after reading all that....

Dont get me started on 4WD's!!!!

Spent a Chrissy in Hospital cause of one 4WD drivers complete stupidity!....but Mikey knows all about that!

:(

Saturday, on the way home from Gaz's after a very nice ride, I was taking it pretty easy as I was a little tired, and a white Toyota Camry wagon, was entering the corner I was just leaving on my side of the road....he was doing around 40km/h at a 35km/h bend so he didn't need to do it.....near effing killed me AGAIN!

I'm sorry but if I beat the p155 outta one of these idiots soon, I'm gonna feel pretty well justified. Deliberately driving head-on in my lane for no reason is attempted murder in my opinion. I bet they'd call it that if I spent the day doing it in a truck.....so what's the difference. These are also the people most likely to drive off and leave you dying in a ditch IMHO.

And it's not just me....Gaz is dirty too. Nearly every car we encountered on our hour and a half ride was doing it. Try overtaking a car doing 50 in an 80 zone when he's using both lanes going through some esses.

A friend of a bloke at work was recently taken out head-on by a drifter in his turbo toy coming over a crest sideways. This bloke was on a scenic ride on his cruiser with his wife as pillion. He's now got 32 pieces of metal holding his leg together, and she'll never get on another bike. Lucky to be alive. Especially since this f&^*tard just kept driving and left them there to live or die.

I'm gonna get something good on video one day then head down to the local cop station and ask what plans they have to put a stop to it. If they tell me there isn't much they can do, I'll tell them not to bother and I'll take care of it for them:thumbup::D. I reckon this might get their attention.

I reckon we need a new section stickied...lol....The Rant thread:BLAA:.

I second that.....consider it done....

And Mikey said, "Let there be Rant!"

And there was a rant thread. Not too much restraint though...lol...after all...it is a rant thread:D
