but it seems like a huge task :eek: first of all, has anyone bought from StreetFighter Inc.-StreetFighter and Sportbike accessories. One stop shopping for StreetFighters & Naked Motorcycles wavex used this sm phantom 4 headlight that the site has for sale.

i have no idea how to go about it. like, how to a mount the speedo and the streetfighter headlight? grrrrrrr... me sad :confused: can anyone point me to the right direction please? in return when my project is done i will be sure to post a up complete detailed DIY guide and post lots of fz6 p0rn for you guys :D

It's really not that hard.

You need:
- a headlight (I bought mine from the shop in Germany directly, but these folks import it: https://www.europeanstreetfighter.com/index.php?page=product&ID=187)
- fork clamps (I got mine from kmp.fr, but you can get some from here Fly-N-Cycle Motorsports-Motorcycle Parts and Gear Online)
- headlight bracket (custom for the Phantom IV headlight, but other headlights come with the mounting hardware)
- Turn signals (I got rizomas from pjsparts.com, and you need to get the fork brackets too
- Mirrors (Again I had gotten rizomas from the same site, and you need the threaded adapters -see site- and 5/8" handlebar clamps from flyncycle as well)
- speedo mounting: you'll have to come up with a custom bracket or mounting plate as well... one easy way is to tap/thread a couple of hole on the front side of the top triple and mount a speedo bracket there...

thanks for the links man :D i'm thinking i should cut the stock fairing stay then wield it back together so it's shorter. what do u think? i can also use this modded fairing stay to mount headlights.
 
I think you're crazy :D You can't (well I guess you could, but it would look scary) mount a naked headlight to the frame (which is the case for the stock fairing stay bracket).... think deep about it :)

If you have the capability to cut the fairing stay bracket (which is steal if I am not mistaken), and to weld it back together, then you should have the capability to make your own custom bracket... and it will be much easier than to try and modify the stock one... which you can't use anyway lol

My suggestion for the headlight....just get rid of all the FZ6 mounting stuff completely, and mount your aftermarket headlight straight off the forks, between the upper & lower triple clamps...much easier...

OMG wavex that red one looks horrid LOL. oh when i said cutting and welding i meant taking it to a welder. i wish i have the skill or tools to mess around with metal haha. that's why the idea of making a custom headlight bracket seems overwhelming for me. so if i mount the headlight closer to the bike? what do you guys do with the cables? the stock speedo/headlight/turn signal cables would then been too long. do you guys just make it shorter?

you can see the Koso speedo here too... I used the Koso mounting bracket and tapped a couple of holes on the top triple... it fit perfect...

Just tuck them up in behind the headlight, cable tie them....looks neat as a pin, if you take your time and do it properly....or you could shorten them, but that means new connectors, etc...yada, yada...

Yes, you can cut them (cleanest way) or tuck them behind the headlight (more difficult)... watch my videos...

oh about the back of the phantom headlight. it looks like there's only one connector. but our fz has two plugs. is the phantom plug and play and ready to go right out of the box?
 
Did you sell your stock headlight/cowling yet? I'd recommend you keep it... the FZ6S doesn't look that bad..................

and for the 3rd time: WATCH MY VIDEOS!!! you will need to splice some wires and be able to read a very simple electrical diagram to do this... do you have a friend that's an engineer? call him up ASAP :D

What's your point of reference?

FYI: All of these are made in Europe, where the real streetfighter scene is. Because of that, the price is about 50% higher here (exchange rate due to the super weak US Dollar, shipping and importing fees etc...).

Point of reference?? its 500 bucks! Thats just a lot of money!
 
Saying "the price is crazy high" without something to compare it to (a point of reference) makes no sense.

Half a million dollars is a lot of money right? Well it's not much if you're in the market for a house in Los Angeles... again, the point of reference is what gives meaning to a dollar amount...

Anyway, I get it... they're simply not worth that kinda money to you... but that doesn't make the price "crazy" (unless you can show me an equivalent custom headlight for half the price somewhere else) :)

I guess coming from cars where a set of new custom lights is less than 200 bucks.. That makes over 500 for a single light seem high to me.. Oh and about custom headlights for half that price... Ill get back to you, Im working on something right now :sinister:
 
I did not know car lights used custom made-to-order fiber glass mini fairings... also, did you buy these from a shop in Germany where you had to buy international shipping and deal with the EURO to USD exchange rate? I don't think so, because shipping along would be about $100...

Anyway... I give up since you're missing the point I've tried to make 3 times already...

$500 is alot of money compared to alot of peoples income.
That being said headlights are pretty high tech, and you generally get what you pay for.
<Reading between the lines: If its really cheap its normally crap :D>
