coming to america

My advice:

Fly into LAX and rent a car for the entire trip, picking and returning it in LA. (there is usually no mileage when it come to renting cars, drive as much and far as you want)

Southern California is so spread out, you will want to have your own transportation. That way, you can go to Disneyland, Universal Studios, even down to San Diego which is only 2 hours south. After spending 3-4 days you can..........

Then drive to Las Vegas which is only about a 4 hour drive. Again, having your own transportation will allow you to visit other areas of Las Vegas besides the strip such as Hoover Dam and even up to Zion National Park in Southern Utah.

When in Las Vegas:

1. Contact Vegasrider
2. Take a helicopter ride out to the Grand Canyon Sundance Helicopters don't let the prices scare you, I can save you some money.
3. Rent a FZ6....Yes you can rent a 2007 FZ6 or other sportbikes, or rent a BMW. Dont make the same mistake as Have2befree, and not call Vegasrider for some good information about this city, otherwise you will get stuck riding a Harley.

After about 4 days..........

You can head back to LA in a very roundabout way, heading up north and go to Yosimite National Park and maybe hit San Francisco and head back south to LA along the coast.

Not sure what your time table will be, but for you to do the above you will need 10-14 days.

:welcome: Yeah if you come to San Diego we have to get you a bike to ride and you have to ride with us on some of the great amusement rides here in our back country.

Then if you guys want it's dinner on us!

Cliff

I told the missus about the bike hire and offers of rides and dinner and so far shes all for it, so it looks like we will definately be hiring a bike while in la.

Just remember that they haven't figured out yet that they are driving on the wrong side of the road over there:spank:. It's probably OK 'cause their map of the world is upside down too:eek:. Took me ages to figure out what "Downunder" was about:eek::D.

Dare I jump straight in here and say, " Don't forget your camera mate," and suggest that you try to catch up with some of the U.S. folks for a beer.

Cheers
Mike

LOL!! Don't forget our toilets flush the other way too! Anything else that we can think of for being upside down?

Wow just looking at some of the prices for bikes and at around $400 a day that is puishing the budget, would want one for a few days with gear and that equats to a airfare.

I know the Harley rentals aren't very expensive here in Vegas just because it's just huge business. Somewhere around $120 a day. You might want to look into renting a BMW if you are planning to ride two up. They rent them here at the local BMW dealership and the prices don't look too bad. Now if you want to rent a sportbike, that's a different story.

BMW Motorcycles of Las Vegas

And this is where I would ride to if I rented a BMW 1200

That far more reasonable. Or should i say affordable for me. Going to be pushing every boundary just to be able to get the money to come. But hey thats what banks are for will probably borrow some to make sure its not a tight arse holiday.

Thought I would provide you with the current prices of fuel here in Las Vegas, compared to your prices down under.

Here in Las Vegas, the current price of fuel is $2.59 USD per U.S. Gallon. Which eqautes to 3.79 liters, which equates to .68 cents per liter in USD. Convert that to AUD, that about .83 AUD per liter or 3.15 AUD per U.S. Gallon.

Put that into your budget.

Well doing some more fine tuning, we are now looking at 7 days la, 7 days anahiiem, 5 days vegas, 6 days hawaii. A day trip to san diego for sea world, was thinking 3 days san diego but holiday getting out of hand, so still looking for any help, or idea's, vegas pretty much taken care of (thanks to vr)

we were thinking about a trip to san diego but time is becoming a issue. We are still thinking of a ride possibly in vegas. We do have time in hawaii so maybe.

Get yourself a big ar$ed cruiser, and cruise the Strip in Vegas...now that would be fun!

As we get closer to setting things in concrete ill give more details, im still trying to squeeze san diego in so we can go riding with nccoder, too many things to do not enough money to stay that long to do them all.

Are you getting a car for the entire trip? From the places you have all listed, it makes sense to just rent a car for the entire trip and drive everywhere. Except for Hawaii of course.

7 days LA and 7 Days Anaheim is the samething. It's one place.

You get here and we'll get a ride in for sure!

Get yer arse here!

Car rental at the moment seems a waste of money, and the girlfriend has said she wont take any poop from me stressing whilediving on the wrong side of the road in a way bussier city than here. First 7 days up in hollywood second 7 days down in ahahiem, lots to do from both bases, but trying to shave time so can also do s/d, we have already gone over our planned time by a couple. Vegas ive said one day for south of strip one day north of strip one day hoover and bum, one day crand caynon and bum,and 1 to do what ever. also need to take travel between into account. Im really trying to squeeze down south in believe me.
