Okay so if you did'nt allready know i'm building a Yamaha xs 650 chopper.I just got the idea to put some cherry bomb glass packs on it for muffler's it would be a chrome header the glasspack then the chrome turn down tip's so the poll is too see if other people think it's a cool idea also.... :rockon:

hell yeah do it a buddy of mine did something like that on his CB400 and its sounds really good it's super loud but its sounds good

Just say NO to glasspacks, it'll sound like an enduro :spank:, after all you are building a chopper!. Glasspacks on nonturbo vehicles provide sound dampening, but you won't have any torque, you should use a chambered muffler,inside the muffler are mutiple panels that divert the exhuast flow to create backpressure, thus increasing torque, I suggest a Flowmaster Super 44, it's small, but big on sound, sells for about $90.

I totaly understand what your saying about the chambered muffler and the tourqe.....but this bike will be a freaking bucking wild bull over 60mph.. it's just to thump around town on and look cool..... you know sonic on saturday night and bike and car shows.... ..I think the glasspacks will give it a cool retro look to go along with the white wall on the rear and the springer forks...

Glass packs are cool!! I put one on my mini bike years ago. I ripped the stock Rupp exhaust off after I bent it in a crash. I found a small glass pack in a junk yard and put it on the mini bike. That 4hp Tecumseh never sounded better!!

Glass packs sound great on anything but a inline four cylinder, as they can get a tad buzzy. On a twin, inline or v6, inline or v8, they sound great!

i found a couple of pic's....mine would come out of the cylinder head as a chrome header go under the engine along the frame then turn up following the lower frame tube where i mount the 8" glasspack with the chrome tips facing straight back...

What 4drfocus said makes total sense if you are looking for performance boosts. But I guess that is not what you are looking for on your chopper? Hell! No one goes for performance on their choppers, they just have one purpose, to look and sound cool! I say do it! That bike is turning out to be one sick machine :rockon:

I say do it...I like the way your bike is looking...just curious are you going for the polished look of the middle photo or the rat-rod look of the last photo.....I like both, but I think there is something very cool about the rat-rod look flat paint jobs with wrapped headers....:rockon:

Anyway, looking good and I bet the glass-packs will look great and sound good too.

I'm not sure what style it will be considered when it's finished..I just got my tank and seat back a few minutes ago from my upholstery man,and it's definitly DIFFERENT!!! i'm going to post pic's when I get home later...I told him I wanted the tank completly wrapped in leather and gave him free reign over the design....well all I can say is....I'T'S LIKE NOTHING I'VE EVER SEEN BEFORE!!!

I think it will be something different - and that is what you want to achieve as well isn't it. Apart from that, I think this baby of yours will never be 'finished'. It will be a continuous project, adding and discarding thing as time goes on. If that floats your boat now, do it. Can't wait to see the launch of version 1.0001 :rockon:
