questions about buying 04 fz6

So I was at the dealership today and there was a 2004 fz6. The salesman said it was never in an accident. The bike was definitely dropped more then once though. It has scratches on both the clutch and front brake levers as well as a small crack on the left fairings. I cannot really recall but i think he said it has about 10,000 miles on it if im not confusing bikes. They are asking 3000 for it and I wanted to know if this is a good price. It also has new tires on it that were just scrubbed in. Im sure their may be some more scratches as well but I couldnt tell because the bike was a little dirty. This will be my first bike and I am not too concerned with the cosmetics of the bike. I will be sure to check the bike more thorough before I sign the papers.

Thats what I was thinking. I also forgot to ask. If I were to buy a jacket with the bike, would they normally include that in the financing?

Usually they'll let you group gear with the financing. It depends if who you go with

also get at least 10% off any gear, shouldnt be hard to get them to do that. however, i would keep looking, the salesperson is obviously lying to you. i would try somewhere else.

I bought a 04 a month or so ago for $3800 with 8k miles, it's been great! Make sure the TPS recall has been performed on it or request they do it for you. I had idle/kill problems right away with mine, had the TPS replaced and no problems since.:thumbup:

Also got free tire replacement...

ok ill ask about the tps...ill also see what i could do about the jacket...its not to imoportant since my friend is letting me borrow 1 of his until i get1...i had 1 but sold it...stupid me

I'd have him replace that left fairing for that price. Its cheaper for him to get the part than for you to buy it retail.... I'd have him clean it before you make a decision so you can find any other damage which will help you in dickering with the OTD price...

I agree and after he cleans it, bring a friend (you said first bike so I assume you don't know a whole lot about motorcycles) who knows alot about bikes and what to look for, and have the salesman take the bike outside and give it a complete once over. Look for rash on the covers (crank, oil pump, etc) rash means (usually) crashed not dropped.

Good luck! If you get it and it is a good bike you will not regret it!

FZ6 is a great bike and you will love it. If it was me, I would keep looking. Just what little I have heard, even if you spend a little more money, I think you can find a lot better FZ6 out there.

I got an 07 with 1800 miles from a 3rd party for $4500. In this economy, you should be able to find a awesome deal if you take your time and your patient.
