Hi All, not sure if you know this model from Puig new generation (4511 I believe). It work better than I supposed, I'm happy with the result.

Hi fz6nbr,

Sorry but I'm personally not keen on that screen from puig, but if it works well that's all that matters really. I like the FZ6 logo on the sides though :thumbup:

Mine is the dark black.

I ain't a speed merchant and try to avoid motorways (boring) but I have been 80 (on private roads of course) and done a little bit of motorway riding and the screen is perfect for me.

I highly recommend the blue locktight for the threads holding the bracket to the screen as the rubber washers don't allow the bolts to be tightened much (without the rubber washer popping out) and I am sure without the locktight the bolts would have come loose by now.

Excellent, look forward to that and your findings. I have now touched 100mph (indicated) on mine without realising until I glanced at the speedo! Before the screen I knew I was doing 70mph by the wind blast and never thought I would be comfortably exceeding that.

Just fitted some LED marker lights to either side of my screen so I could remove the side light bulb (as it was pretty useless now). Means bike should be legal (ish), and I can leave it parked the wrong way at night if ever I need to.

OMG !! are you saying that this screen is illegal in the UK ?? The side light serves no purpose anyway when the main beam is on all the time. Also i never use the parking light facility anyway.

I love going over 80mph+ on mine without any screen so i should really enjoy it when it arrives. I just hope it arrives soon so i can get the benefit when i go to Assen on 25th June.
I ordered it on 16th May so it should be here for then.

Just for curiosity, how wide and tall is the "ermax" logo on the front. I'm looking to cover it with a sticker??

Did you get to the Thundersprint ? I went on the Saturday riding the Loan bike from the dealers that were servicing my bike. It was a XJ6 diversion. It was a smooth ride, a bit under powered compared to our bike but the main shock was the amount of bufferting i got from the fairing. It was worse than the naked and that's no joke.
The air pounded my neck constantly and was very uncomfortable. I just hope this ermax screen doesn't do that or it will be straight onto ebay !!

Well it finally arrived last Friday and the Ermax screen is now fitted and looks mighty fine too.

I have covered the ermax logo with a Yamaha Logo / emblem badge to make it look more authentic thanks to ebay for £1.99 :thumbup:

Looks good, to answer about the side light.

As you now know it is pretty much blacked out by the screen. I don't think a copper would even know if you got pulled, but I think it may fail the MOT. Easy way is to remove the screen when you take it for the MOT, and don't try and park the bike anywhere at night where you would need to leave the side light on.

I decided I wanted some sort of light, I toyed with the idea of drilling a 20mm hole in the screen to let the side light through, but decided I would probably screw it up.

So bought two E marked LED reg plate lights and fitted one to each side of the screen, think it looks pretty good, and they are pretty bright and shine out to each side. Will get some photos when I get chance.

Also when parked with handlebars turned light is straight forward.

what is the satnav you have on one of your videos? I've been looking at getting one.

It is a Garmin GPSmap 60, it is an handheld GPS that runs from 2x AA batteries, runs for about 11 hours. Designed more for walkers (waterproof to 3 metres).

Not really a satnav it is handy for pointing you in the right direction and does have a basic map. I use it for the accurate speedo and it logs your movements, so great for seeing where you have been and how fast on the PC when you get home.

Just to update this thread a bit, the LED units failed at roughly the same time about a couple of weeks in.

Seems the FZ doesn't like some LED units (I have had a few LED tail lamps fail too). I managed to find the bikevis bullets which are getting popular now, don't give the same view from the side but look neat and are very noticeable from the front.

I am also now trying out some additional LED tail lights, since fitting them had pretty much constant snow or ice here so not done a road test with them

Nice to see your bike screen with the bikevis bullets fitted on their web site. Looking good mate. :thumbup:

I think i'll be getting some bullets but i'll have to have a look to see how i can wire them up properly. I'm useless at things like that.

Cheers Dave, had one of the bullets fail on me, but they sent me a new set next day which is excellent service. The guy who runs the company is dead sound, can't praise him enough.

Wiring isn't too difficult if you pick up the supply from the wires going to the side light bulb. You really need someone who can solder to make a rally good job, and use the Tamiya connectors available at Maplin to allow easy screen removal.

If you where a tad closer would nip over and do it for you.
