Sick of the Political Stuff

I am just upset by it. To me it is like removing the editorial section of the newpaper because someone doesnt like it. Its easy to flip right by if your not interested, instead of becoming offended.

This is not a newspaper, it's a motorcycle forum. I rarely see editorial sections of motorcycle magazines exposing extreme political views... they typically talk about motorcycle stuff.

No-one became offended... quite a lot of ppl here simply don't care to see political and controversial threads pop up everyday and slowly taking over the motorcycle stuff, that's all. I thought the solution to hide the political stuff from new posts was a great idea for everyone (I thought you were OK with it too)...

If you are so fond of debating about politics with strangers, why don't you join a political forum? I am not being an ass, I am genuinely curious as to why you want politics here, and can't go debate with ppl that actually want to...

With your logic, why not open a religion forum too, and one about the stock market, and why don't we simply invite anyone to open their own sub-forum about whatever topic they like... soon this forum will be about everything but motorcycles lol

You make a good point Wavex, I personally think a motorcycle forum is just that and no more, but obviously due to demand or what ever reason it's been placed in but the regulations seem to hold it in check and it doesn't spill out onto the main forums.

First of all I am not the one makes these types of decisions. If you are not happy about what the owner of this site decided (to remove the politic forum from the "new post" list), please feel free to complain to Dennis.

I merely expressed my views, and don't need your sarcasm.

Having a bar section to discuss random topics is different than having a dedicated forum for that topic. I personally did not mind when casual political topics pop_ed up every once in a while in the bar section; these threads were civil and mellow... none of this extremist bs that's been going around lately...

I am not sure why there's an RC forum in here, but talking about RC is not comparable to talking about politics or religions etc... these are topics that typically make the joy of a few troublemakers that enjoy the drama and anger that comes out of these threads, while giving them a platform to express their angry extremist views... In my humble opinion, that has no place in a motorcycle forum.

The art of writing, discussion, even more so, spirited debates is still alive. I think as adults we can all deal with these issues in a civil manner. But when one person is so adamant, aggressive, and at times, their extreme views seem to go way beyond politics. I believe this behavior is hatred spawned. That's just my opinion. Even me responding to this post, yet again, is probably giving him a woody.

I come to this site for various reasons:

#1 reason (need I remind everyone) is that I have a FZ6 that I love. I love the fact that you can give and get information at your finger tips from other riders who enjoy the same beautiful piece of machinery I have.

#2 I have found that, the people here are really cool, from the West Coast, over the Big Pond, to the Pyramids of Egypt, I find it fascinating at times.

#3 I need some where to go while I'm goofing off at work during the times I wish I were out riding.

I think we should all lighten up and remember that life is really too short for this bull.

Just look at this thread as a perfect example! It's not been made as you described, out of hatred, but it seems to me at times to be raising bad feelings, such as the sarcasm shown etc.

Politics like everything else in life is personal. The real requirement for discussing politics isn't to not make it personal but to be able to not take it personally. The greatest debaters no matter the topic are those who do not take it personallyand can see both sides of the arguement. There are people in the world with different opinions and more importantly disagree with you. People on this forum have different interests beyond the Yamaha FZ6. It could be politics, it could be oil, or it could be a different model of motorcycle.

If the political threads are removed then so should every other non-motorcycle thread. If you aren't interested in a topic then don't post and better yet don't read them. People who enter into any discussion need to be ready to take criticism no matter if the topic is your favorite song or why the politicians are destorying mankind.

For those taking the discussions personally:
If your views are so narrow that you cannot handle a disenting opinion then don't get upset when you post and someone disagrees... just don't post.

For those tired of reading the political threads:
Don't read them. There are plenty of ways to navigate the forum so you never have to know they exist.

Lastly, the anonymity the internet provides allows people to be unfiltered assholes. It could be a ten year old yelling obsenities at you while playing video games or a 40 year old telling you that you don't know **** about ****. If you haven't learned that lesson yet and how to deal with it then I suggest you just press Alt-F4 and stare out the window.

Because we are not strangers. We are a group of people that ride.

Some of us happen to like to have these topics for discussion, people complained about them being in the bar, so we moved them to seperate section, that went fine for a while, then someone complained about them again, so now its invisible.

To answer your question that you posted as curious, there are people here who actually want to debate and discuss politics. We actually enjoy it, and I have learned quite a bit researching my thoughts, I know several others have here as well.

No one Hates anyone on this site.

This is not sarcasm at all David. This is a valid question.

Seriously this is a valid question as well. Is it only because you disagree with a view that it becomes extremist? Who exactly decides?

I think you are good guy, and I am asking because I want to know. If you are going to make statements like that, I know you have a good reason in your mind. You are a smart guy, and well spoken.

I promise I get no joy out of big blowups and arguments with people I consider my friends. I will always say what I think is right though.

I have come to the conclusion that you are trolling. OK, I've officially had it. If Wrightme43 bans me from the underground for this post, so be it. I feel it's time to set a few facts straight, and to do it, I'm going to have to say some things that may be classified as a personal attack against you.

But they are true, and by law, the truth is not slander.

First, your comment about "him" having a woody IS a personal attack. And for Christ's sake, don't dance around the subject. We all know that you're talking about Wrightme43. Just admit it.

Second, YOU STARTED THIS!

Earlier this week I posted a followup to the Obama Pledge thread, talking about how I was asked to sign the pledge.

You followed up with a post where you called Wrightme43 a racist.

Then I followed up with a post containing a link to the forum rules, which clearly state No Personal Attacks.

Your post has since been deleted by either Wrightme43 or Hellgate, and I have the greatest respect for Wrightme43 for never once mentioning it. He's an admin, and he ignored the cheap shot and went on being the unbiased admin.

But I saw what you said. I'm sure others did too. So don't go acting like you're the innocent party here. You instigated this whole mess.

Less than five minutes after you posted the attack on Wrightme43, you posted to General Discussion complaining about the political posts.

So to recap.

1. You insulted Wrightme43
2. You violated forum rules with a personal attack.
3. You complained about the existence of the forum where you posted the personal attack.
4. The person you attacked bowed to your wishes when he was fully justified in booting you off of this website.
5. Now you're back on the forum that you claim to hate.
6. You've insulted Wrightme43 again.
7. And you're claiming that he is the one who's "hating."

I think that just about says it all.

I can see you are annoyed Fred, and I know nothing about a previous post that was deleted. Can I just ask, is your signature meant in jest or is it being serious?

I'm referring to "FZ6 Underground Politics forum. Intelligent debate about important topics. Not for thin skinned girly-men."

I can feel my opinion on this part of the forum shifting slightly although I've tried to remain neutral, I see people feel strongly about having this here although I am currently unsure whether they are defending it so much due to them thinking it is infringing on their freedom. I'll have a think and weigh it up and get back to you guys on my opinion before I wade in. (And I do realise my opinion means very little on the scale of the more experianced members haha.)
