Bought a 1999 Hayabusa few weeks ago, along with FZ6. I don't know what brings me to take the FZ6 out over the Busa. Both are sitting next to each other, but it always seams to draw me in. Id have to say the FZ6 is a much better ride and I am very happy with its performance. I did top the FZ6 out at 154, then took the Busa out to 2010.(1999 & 2000 are the only unrestricted models). I would like to see a higher top speed from the FZ6, I know there isn't going to be 210 on my FZ6, But what major parts would you suggest to buy for the FZ6 that aren't going to stretch my wallet more then buying these two bikes has. I am able to do all the work myself, its a matter of parts not labor. (Is it just me or is there no fairings for the Fz6 model, other then the belly pan?)

I do like this fairing, but Id have to strip the paint, though still wouldn't be to expensive I guess.... or this could be my excuse to paint the entire bike.

I have got a mate who rides a Busa...awesome bike, blindingly fast....but he wont ride it in the wet...he reckons that wet roads scare the poop out of him on the Busa!

One thing that puzzles me about the Busa, - wtf is that welding doing on the middle of the frame???
Don't the factory have the know-how to make a one piece frame?
To me it stands out like a sour thumb, - and it would for sure be the first thing I would do some sort of cover up on.

Dude, you don't need th FZ to go faster. When you want to go stupid fast ( and I do mean STUPID) ride the 'Busa. When you want to only go fast enough to remeber what happened, ride the FZ.

I know a friend who bought a 2006 FZ1 (when they first went to FI) and his frame cracked there. I think he did several wheelies and the frame could not take the load flex. There are actually about 200 different pictures of cracks in the same place on various 06's FZ1. The number of cracked frames were so small so Yamaha did not have a recall. The 2006 FZ1 also has some throttle snatch problems. :(

I too don't like that ugly weld showing, especially right there to take away the smooth contour.

yeah... busa is like a bottle of moonshine... sure its the best... but whats the point? my buddy has one... i always talk about mods i do to my bike... sprockets... exhaust... juice box... and his reply is... mine is already fast... to me... that takes the fun out of it... the best part about being fast is knowing the work you put into it... i dont like to buy it fast... i like to make it fast...

I have yet to top the fizzer out. Maybe I'm just weak and girly like, no offense to the women who probably ride better than me, but when i hit 126 (my current top speed) I just slowed down thinking I love my wife and daughter, cold beer and riding the twisties.

If I need to go that fast I can break out the videogame steering wheel, put on my headphones and go to town.

My big problem is an inability to do 0-60 in anything more than the quickest I can get out of my bike. I like the acceleration, once I reach instant death speed it actually gets a bit boring. That being said, I bet the Busa has acceleration in spades. On that it might be more like 0-100 and then let off the throttle.

Either way, be safe.
