Factory sticker removal?

Anybody know if you can take off the factory vin sticker from the frame...the engineers at Yamaha picker a great location for this info!

If you ever have to get your bike inspected or you move to another state you will have problems.

But removing it is easy enough. If you want to remove it, make sure you keep it intact and move it somewhere hidden or put it under the seat.

Now I've realised why everyone wants to remove that sticker! I wasn't sure where it was on my bike as it's all hidden by the upper and lower fairing! Muhahahaha.

Although it looks pants, I wouldn't risk removing it. What about some black tape that you can remove when needed?

What I would do is cust a piece of black duct tape that is around 0.5cm wider than the sticker. Then cut another piece the same size as the sticker. Then I'd stick the sticky sides of the two pieces of tape together - centred. There will be a half-cm of sticky stuff left around the edges of the tape. This means that the tape will only stick to the frame around the VIN sticker and not the sticker itself and can be removed easily with not damage to the sticker when inspections etc come around.

What do people think of mu idea? Or has this already been done hundreds of times?

Your "VIN" information is engraved in another location up near the handle bars. So go ahead a remove that sticker. Use "Goof Off" stuff works wonders.

zoomman is correct... the VIN is engraved elsewhere. I want to say it's at on the frame at the steering head (?). If your pulled over, for riding like you stole it, your title and registration should have that information and you will be able to show the numbers match up.

I hated those stickers and thought it dumb to place them where they did. I removed all of mine.

Now for the removal; I used a small amount of Coleman campfire fuel. Test a small unseen area first if your skeptical but it worked for me very well. You may wish to raise your fuel tank a bit - it can make that frame sticker removal easier.

I heard a few people say that you need the VIN in more than one place on the bike in some states. It was on here somewhere.

Zoomman is right 30 minutes and a little goof off and they are gone. All of mine came off in mostly in one piece. Stuck them inside the owners manual incase I ever need em. Made the bike look alot better.
