LOL, based on that poser thread, I'm one of them today. Spent more time polishing the bike than riding it, but it really needed it. I've ridden all winter in the rain and grime without washing it since there was no point. Now that the weather seems to be getting better I gave it a deep-clean today. Soooooo nice.

Anyway, I told Mrs. Chemiker that I think the chain is cleaner than the day I bought the bike and asked her to look at it. She said that I have an unhealthy relationship with the bike and wanted to know that there were other people like me.

My task from Mrs. Chemiker: Post pictures of my chain and get 15 people to comment positively on it to convince her that I'm not abnormal. Please respond to this thread with any comments about my chain so my wife stops thinking I'm crazy!!

Thanks!
Travis

No way has that bike ever been ridden:thumbup: It's far too clean and shiny. I reckon you just got a picture off the Yamaha website and superimpsed it on your drive.

But if I'm wrong, how the hell did you do it? The metal on the downpipes isn't even discoloured???

If It was blue I would say your normal, but its red so your crazy.. no point in cleaning a red bike ;)

In fact compared to yours my FZ6 looks more like Nick Sanders R1 after he got back from his round the world trip

I suspect that you ran out and got yourself a new chain!!!

That chain have newer moved an inch from the looks of it!!!

Did you polishing that chain under a microscope????

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE REST OF THE BIKE!!!

Thanks Matt! Yup, she's been ridden. Just finished a couple of months of riding every day in the rain. ODO is at 11k miles in the year that I've had her.

Didn't do anything special to the headers, just scrubbed them with a damp rag after washing the bike

not quite as obsessive about the chain..but i did spend nearly 5 hours cleaning my headers

And BTW Chemike, - what's up with her???

You let a person become a member of our distinguished forum, - and she goes off calling another member (who just happens to be her hubby) a crazed abnormal???

As per positive comments for the benifit of your Mrs...cleaning your pride and joy is the most natural thing in the world

my wife also shakes her head at me for my obsession..she reckons ive spent more in cleaning products in 6 months than she's spent on clothes/shoes in a year

Just goes to show that the both of you have a healthy way of prioritizing!!

I don't spend nearly enough time cleaning mine (I'm no poser :rof: :rof: :spank: ), but I must admit I got got a bit excited after cleaning all the years of grime off my chain when I did my last oil change.

The bike looks awesome Chemiker, please re-assure your wife that you are not insane or abnormal... if you didn't clean your chain like that, you'd never know when it was due to be changed, and that's a major safety issue... Don't want the chain snapping and causing grief when barreling down the highway at 50 Mph.

:)

oh, BTW...the chain looks spectacular, but that's nothing compared to mine! ;););)
