All fuel bars flashing

I just recoverd from a pretty bad crash with my bike and I started to do the necessary repairs ...

The crash apparently caused only problems to front forks, wheel (I also twist the rear wheel, but no other dage) and cowling but when I tried to start the bike, the fuel bars (all) started to flash and the bike won't start.

I checked the ECU dignostics as from repair manual and everything seems OK (clean history and no code appearing during startup), battery is ok, fuel available and the fuel pump runs. What can be the meaning of the flashing bars?

Have you tried to disconnecting the battery for a few minutes? That might let the computer reset itself.

I know you said the fuel pump runs. Was that when you applied 12V directly to it? Or when you initially turn the key and it goes through its primeing process? I know that the fuel bars flash and it refuses to start if the two connectors under the tank are disconnected. Perhaps there is a break in one of those wires in that harness? One connector is for the fuel pump, the other is for the fuel level sensor I believe off hand. Perhaps it is isolated to the fuel level sensor?

I still haven't removed the gas tank because it wasn't damaged, so battery is still connected but I reset the ECU from its diagnostic mode. I will check the connectors/wiring next week. I tried the pump by turning the key and makes the usual noise.
I think you're right about the fuel sensor (hope so ...).

BTW I have no access to the bike right now because the friend that is keeping it for me is not here, but I will check next week!!

I had this happen to me. All bars flashed in a pattern (I forget the pattern). In my case, mice had eaten through the wiring connected to my fuel gauge sensor. The sensor plugs directly into the bottom of the tank; you'll see it.

Pull up the tank and make sure the wiring is good and the sensor isn't damaged or not seated properly.

Ok first half of the problem sorted out: he flashing was due to a broken wire (the fuel meter wire) in the instrumentation harness. The bike still refuses to start without giving any code ...
