Has anyone mentioned mercury thermometers and lead fishing wights yet? I had pidgeon for lunch, it was full of the stuff, I thought it added a certain crunch yum.Even off topic posts go off topic, then further off topic, then bam right back on topic. All is right with the world.

No mate, I love a nice fat woodie. You can't beat it. People screw it up by cooking the arse out of it. Nice and pink. You crazy UK folk dont actually eat pidgon do you? Your just joking right?
I try to shoot them with me air rifle. I have just gained permission to shoot on a farm in pangbourne. Rabbits to. Its not like that fancy dancy American shooting, with their proper gun laws. You are only allowed 12ft lb pressure. So its all n the stalking. Pigeon are actually armour plated as well. You got to shoot them in the head to clean them cleanly.Where did you get that round here? I've had rabbit at the Crooked Billet in Stoke Row and a mate of mine who used to be a new age traveller has had Squirrel (tastes of pine apparently) and swan (not strictly legal) but pigeon??

Yep I'm talking about a beautiful fat wood pigeon. with breasts that are ruby red and tender as a fillet steak. What you guys do over there in your spare time, You can keep to yourself lol. Isn't this the best most random thread there is. My other woodie is resrved for mrs perry.Just a heads up Neil.
A nice fat woodie usually refers to something different here in the US.
Trust me, you don't wanna go around telling people you love to eat them!
LOL

You have to be proper carefull shooting the woodies. contra to popular belief. All birds are protected in the UK. You have to prove that crop damage has occured or that health and hygine is an issue. You also have to have taKen all resonable steps to deter them. Including farmers. That said. I know a great recipe for pideon and rabbit sausages. They go great with full tins of beer lol.And look where it got her!!! She'll be thanking you for that Friday morning..:Flash:
I shoot the pigeons who fly overhead and the rabbits in the field behind us. OK I try. Haven't hit one yet. Great fun. Mostly though I shoot empty cans of beer. They don't taste so good
