Well, 22 months later, 21 payments, $12,647.51, it's paid for.

Before anyone goes crazy, I don't remember if I shared my experience about when I purchased the bike, and got unknowingly screwed into buying a 4 year platinum service plan among other things. I also bought some gear. That's why it was so much.

Anyways. Mixed feelings. It's been a really, really rough week, with everything that's been going on, so I don't really have much else to say right now. But, just thought I'd share one bittersweet part of it. Sweet because I'm done. You figure the rest out.

Yea yea yea... I know... I know. Trust me. I know. I'm trying to look on the bright side. Whenever I want, I can take my bike in, and have it back, guaranteed within 24 hours, fully lubed with synthetic/oil filter, chain cleaned/lubed/adjusted, with new spark plugs, a new air filter, and if there is one little scratch on it, I can raise hell and have whatever was scratched replaced. All by factory certified techs. For no extra cost. I say at no extra cost instead of free, because I already paid for it.

Bought a plasma TV last fall. Wife talked me into spending more $$ for a in house warranty.
Lotta good that's going to do me- we bought the TV from Circuit City and they are closing all their stores.

You do have a great bike and we do like our TV so what the hay- life is good.

Circuit City has said that the manufacturers will be honoring all in-store service plans because of their closing.


dako, I remember the day I paid off my SV. I did it because we were buying a house and needed to get the loan off our "monthly expenses". It was a bittersweet feeling for me, too, but mostly because I had to use the money set aside for new house things to do it. Paying off a loan is always bittersweet, but Congrats!

I'd take my bike in often enough to make it worth the extra cash spent on the warranty. Kudos on getting it payed off, just one less thing to worry about.

Didn't think about that before! I should. I go about every 5-6 weeks in the summer, so that could accumulate... Actually at first I used to worry that they didn't actually change them, but they never seem to get the boots on top all the way back down, so I just make sure I check it when I get it back, and if they're not quite on right, I know they did it.

Also, there is a printed record of every service the bike has had with notes. I figure that could be valuable when I go to sell the bike (GASP! If it ever happens. Who knows what the next few years have to bring.). Someone buying a used bike may appreciate that every service has been documented and done by the dealer. Who knows.

Yea. I try to chalk it up to experience. I was 18, and even though I'm only 20 now, I've come a long way. Since then I haven't gotten screwed on anything. Now I am more of the customer that you hope doesn't have to come back, because you'll end up comping something to me at no cost before I leave after you fix what was wrong. But I still try to be reasonable, and always respectful.

I bought an Emerson 32" lcd from wal-mart.the thing got a blue line down the center of the now.so i go to wal-mart with it and my receipt because I bought the two year warranty also and they tell me I have to box it up and ship it to the repair shop!!!!!!! the waranty company sent me the box,so its shipping out monday.anyway the point is circuit city can go ahead and close and your warranty should still be good.you might want to check with them on whose covering your warranty incase they arent around much longer. Don't get too down on yourself. As educated as I am, I've been hosed more times than I can count. Live and learn. You'll be wiser next time. And paying it off so quickly shows savvy on your part.
