New Gear from CG!!!

I dropped by Cycle Gear two days ago to recon the 25% off sale zone. I tried on helmets, gloves and one piece leathers so I could zip in a buy them today.

I ended up buying a new Shoei RF-1000 and a pair of Alpinestars GP Plus gloves. The helmet was $367, the gloves, $119. I tired on Frank Thomas leathers and they are too loose on me. Which is too bad as they are an amazing set. I also tried on the Dainese leathers which are, well, made of some of the most supple leather. They are 40% off but they give me too much "gut" room.

I like them. My current/last pair are Buells and they took a little bit to break in but they are very comfortable. The new gloves will need to break in but after a few ride they will be very nice too.

I like the extra protection they gantlet gloves provide. You never know then you might need the extra protection.

I also tried on a pair of $329 Dainese gloves...and I'm not sure how to describe how comfortable they are. The leather was so soft and they fit perfectly. They are the ones with the Ti knuckle protectors. For about 2.5 seconds I considered buyin them, but no...

Alas none in my size, did try on a pair of Frank Thomas gloves as well that I really liked until I noticed stitching in a finger coming apart, also only one in my size. Hopefully they will hold the sale and I can get over to Ft. Worth on Saturday. New JR leathers are in the mail so I am almost ready for Track Days!!!!

Actually getting them from KneeDraggers. Joe Rocket GPX Type R, 2 piece set. My first set of "real" leathers and I wanted 2 piece for practicality. plenty of positive reviews on various forums and sites and 539.00 was not to hard on the budget. I am hoping to get to 4-5 track days this year, if I fell like I need better after that I will think about a 1 piece. Taking a bit of flier on the sizing but I did try on some other JR stuff to get a feel for the fit. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I use a similar type of glove for the summer but not so gauntlet looking, a bit shorter.

The plastic protection does not bother me and the gloves are really comfortable.

Unfortunately, I have to wait for my helmet, as I choose to pick mine out of the catalog. Didn't really like any of the selections that they had in the store. Still got my 25% off though. At least I left with a light smoke visor. Will post pics when It arrives.

Sizing is hard. My AGVs are 44/54 and needed several days to break in. Like your JRs they are a two piece set. I'd like to get a one piece but I'm finding that the one piece has less room from the crotch to the base of the neck. So if you have a long trunk it can be very tight. The two piece design give you another inch or so for the trunk.

I tired on a pair of 44 one piece Technics and injuried myself! One of the boys got pinched and I was damn near doubled over in the dressing room!

I'm finding to get the length in a 1 piece I have to go up a size 44 to 46 but then there is too much room in the butt and waist. So I may just stick with my AGVs. They were dirt cheap but surprisingly fit the best so far.

I haven't tried on any JRs yet, have to look into them. Thanks!

BTW, i know you have done a fair bit of track riding, any plans to hit some in TX this year?? I am most likely going to stick around DFW as there are 2 tracks here but would be interested in heading south if you're going to hit the track at some point if only to see another track, meet you, say hello and spend a day racing around the track.

Cool that would be great. The Harris Hill schedule is out for 2009. Feb 27th is the first one, then March 2 and 21.

Will definetly try to get down that way. would like to find a date when a few FZ6's could meet for a track day at cresson. Going to Deals gap in June and assuming there will be a fall twisted sisters down your way in the fall! would like to round that out with a track day if possible.

Cool! Deals gap sounds like a blast! I am planning to do another Twisted Sisters ride this Fall and perhaps a Spring time day trip too.

I'd like to try some of the other riders schools this year too in addition to H2.
