hey guys, i just got my bike back in july, and have made a few mods my self. i was thinking about changing the color of my forks from silver to black. should i paint this my self, or just shell out the money to have them powder coated? thoughts and comments please. thanks

It depends on what you mean by "painting them yourself." If you know how to do professional automotive paint, then by all means, do so. I have done that myself with excellent results. If you are referring to some rattle-cans, then I would have to say go with the powder-coating. It is a harse area for paint to live. Lots of rocks and road crap get thrown in that area. I don't see the rattle-can surviving.

my friend can do professional painting, so no rattle cans involved. i was just wondering which would be better. if you get them powder coated, do you have to drain the oil out of the shocks?
