So after checking out my rear tire the other day, I noticed that the carbon fiber (more than likely imitation) rear hugger the previous owner installed is completely crooked. I took out all 4 bolts + the center plastic pin. I managed to wiggle/work the hugger out without having to remove the rear tire, but I had to really force it out of there.

My question is can I do the same with installation? I ordered a used one from eBay, but unlike removing the old one, I don't want to force it in and break anything. Should I remove the rear tire to install a rear hugger?

How she sits right now:

I have done it without removing the rear wheel. You just need to find the right angle to get it to slide in smoothly. It also helps to have it on the center stand so the wheel is as low as possible.

After you slide it in there, it will be strangely crooked until all of the bolts and the center plastic pin are fastened down, so don't worry if it looks ****eyed at first.

Anyone know the part number for this bolt?

I broke the back center rivet from uninstalling the old hugger and I'm going to order another one along with whatever bolt that is.

I lost the two bolts on the chain side that hold the hugger on anyone know what size replacement go get also why they would have backed out (maybe I forgot a part when I put the hugger back on)?

Should be listed in the shop manual (which you can find on BonemansFZ6)- also IIRC, it's the same size as the other side - but as soon as I said that, it sounds wrong.

Left side is short with built in flat washers ~10-12mm long as it snugs down right on the plastic. The Right side has about 2X longer - perhaps ~20mm long bolts that go through an anti-crush sleeve. << Have no idea what they are called. Plus the RS holds the brake hose down.

I had my hugger off many times while doing the R1 Shock. Center stand and hold it just right. In and out NP.

Is that all that holds left side in no nut? I had both of them screwed in tight and just trying to figure out how I lost both like that.
