My rear suspension leaked
And I have decided to rebuild it
(Note: this mod is risky if you have the money this not for you)

All oil was gone and felt like im riding a pogo stick.
Lower mount removal is a pain in the ass, blowtorch and curved vice grip is your friend here

Diassembled
Forgot to take a picture of each parts inside
Be careful when removing the 2 circlip locks inside
Oil and the floating piston will shoot out of the tube.
IMG_20230716_144320429.jpgIMG_20230716_141438302.jpgseals to be replaced
12x22.5x5 oil seal
12.5x23.5x7 D26 dust seal

Stock rear shock is Monotube design
Floating piston to seperate oil and gas inside the tube
There's no way of pressurizing the the gas chamber so i drilled, tapped and installed a shrader valve for suspension, commonly used in dirtbikes

Angled schrader valve so your preload adjuster won't make contact

New paint to freshen things up
Might aswell replace the rear wheel seals while im at itIMG_20230810_131203982.jpghere it is assembled
And static testing

If you're asking why or whats this for.
Now i have control over the air pressure inside the gas chamber.
I can replace oil with different weight.
In short i can do experiment at test whats good for me.

Well of course its not the same as how the factory suspension is built and performs but Its my personal preference.

Just sharing guys ride safe

The schrader valve is a brilliant solution. I can't see from the photos, but what type of "valve" was used to control oil flow? I'm use to seeing a disc with a shim stack. I assume there is just a plate with an orifice.

Post some photos of the shim stack...even better the thickness and diameter of the shims used...maybe we can figure out how to tune these things.
I haven't touched the valving of the shock, i dont think its worth the time and effort revalving the stock one

Looking at the 2015 r1 suspension seems like it would fit with minamal mod.
