i wouldnt worry to much about a shade differance in "colour"(english spelling) my power blue belly pan is a shade differant and that is a genuine yam part,,in the uk that would fail an annual ministry of transport inspection as the chain gaurd is missing

I haven't noticed any negatives from the chainguard being cut down. I use the dupont teflon chain lube stuff, smells good and doesn't even try to fling off. In a way I kinda wish the original owner hadn't cut it down, but oh well. It works for me, and will look good once I swap to a red chain at some point in time :)
 
Yes, the standard Duplicolor Clear Coat that can be bought at the auto parts store.

So far, so good! No chipping or cracking in the paint. Holding up well.
