I scrubebd my 016's today on Montezooooma and the wind was so freaking bad. I mean bad!!! I tried a different route to get home thinking go across and up Banner Grade. It started raining and looked really bad on 78 up the mountains so I turned around and crossed back to Borrego Springs and ran up Montezooooma again and hit rain all the way to Ramona.
The 016's blow away the Dunlop Sportmax the bike came with....

Couldn't believe I was running into rain today. The Weather Channel said mostly sunny today. They were right it was mostly sunny. Only in Borrego Springs!!!

Very cool!!! We'll be there. I hope the Accuweather guys are correct. If not we'll still have a great adventure. I can tell you this. Other than being in a hurricane I've never been hit so hard by the wind as yesterday on Montezuma. I can tell you I've experienced heavy weather but there were these gusts yesterday that were unreal!

Glad to have you aboard Jerry!

There's a cool lookout at about the middle of Montezuma Valley Rd on the right side, on our way down that you can pull into that should be great for pictures etc. Don't try to pull into it going up the mountain cuz you have to go left on a blind right hander.

Hope the good weather stands! Two of the four weather sites I checked today said clear/sunny for tomorrow. I'll just believe those guys and not the others. I got caught in the rain on my way home from work on Wednesday.

I'm going to look at the video right now.

Those gusts were almost as bad as Wednesday's gusts. And John (Cali rider) confirmed what we both felt in that last big open sweeper that we always crank up a notch on. I experienced it with both wheels on Weds. That wind must be getting air under the tire when we're leaned over at speed. That's a no no when you losing your front wheel. I was floating off my line on Weds. and could feel the same thing happening today. John made a great call in deciding it wasn't the best idea to continue Montezoooma today.

And Jerry! Don't let that guy fool ya! He is fast! Haha! We'd run up and down the mountain and when I stopped and got off my bike he was standing there whistling and polishing my tail light! LOL :rof:

Great ride as always guys! Too bad about the wind, fog and such but that's what riding is all about.
