Yea so I saw on harbor freight a motorcycle carrier for $130 and decided to test it out. It only supports 400lbs!!!(FZ6 DRY is 421 I believe) So what to do? Well I figured I see how much weight I could save so I decided to start removing things and weighing them on a floor scale.

Fuel tank with 1/2 tank of gas = 25lbs. Yamaha comfort seat = 4lbs. Center stand = 4lbs. I then remembered that HEY the Two Bros carbon cans saves 8.5lbs and the cat delete pipe definitely is worth a lb or two.

SOOOO All in all it actually seems to be doing OK. I have had it on the back for about 2 hours now just to see how its holding up and I drove it around for 20 minutes and had no issues. The jeep I6 4.0 is God's gift to mankind in terms of engine and it doesn't even register the extra 500lbs.

LOL at least its rated.

We have a crazy guy that comes in to work. He is cool but CRAZY!!!

Jaguars, new ones, old ones, a Lexus, a really old harley, and a realy old Harley Scooter made some Itailian company in the 60s.

He had a friend weld up something like that out of mild steel, then loaded the scooter and took off for florida.

Yours is a whole whole whole lot better.

Throw an AAL on the rear of the cherokee! They're notorious for sagging without anything extra hanging off the back.

Those are Pilot Road 2s. AWESOME tires imho. (Have about 500 miles on em)

ALSO if anyone is in PA, I will be near State College in Bellefonte. Hit me up this week and we can ride. This is my summer vacation so thats why I had to take my baby with me. My girlfriend is coming too hahaha. Too bad I cant put the FZ in the Jeep and just strap the gf on the back...*sigh*

Don't bother taking off a few pounds. Structural ratings include a safety factor of at least 2.0 (up to 4.0 if the item might be overhead and fall). I wouldn't worry about the rack, but instead worry about the load rating of the hitch. If it's OK, you're OK.

Max load on my hitch (Class III) is 500lbs so thats another reason why I am shedding some weight
+ a Cherokee is not ideal for hauling that much extra weight on the back so I am trying to help it as much as I can.

Nice!!! Defintely an AAL candidate and keep an eye on the tire pressure for the Jeep.

The pics are bike porn though! NSFW dude! It's TOTALLY unclothed and naked! ;) I feel violated.... :( :rof:

I'm not sure I'd be safe on the road with that cos I'd be looking in the mirror the whole time. Add a suitcase or two and the front wheels wouldn't be on the road!

just coming from another angle here...DO NOT get AAL. Get a full leaf kit (since I assume you said you wanted an AAL "kit" I assume "lift kit", right?

either way, great idea and was wondering when I was gonna do that to mine; however a trailer seemed better for my purposes...for when I have the cash LOL

Check out NAXJA.org and Cherokeeforum.com for info what that thing is capable of - more than you know!

Yea my brother is on NAXJA all the time. Hes got his stroked to 4.6 and is pretty popular over there from what Ive seen (look up Gradon).

But I am now here in PA and MAN! The jeep didnt even care that bike was back there. It felt fine and hauled fine. Cruise Control @ 75mph the whole way in 5th gear and I STILL got 21mpg! NOT KIDDING. 211 miles and just a little under half a tank. It handled EXTREMELY well even going up the mountains. I put the rear tires up to 37psi and the fronts to 35psi. Worked better than I thought.

Ah man! I'm putting this on my future to do list for my XJ as well. Looking forward to your final review. I've seen these racks for quads too, they're much wider though.
