    Doberman

I haven't posted here in a while. I apologize for that. For one, I traded my beloved FZ6 for nearly as a great a bike, an FZ1. But most pressing I suffered the greatest tragedy of my life in that my 18 year old son took his own life. It was nearly the death of me as well. Those of you that are...

If you've got nothing better to do

read this. Norm's been thinking again: Do you find yourself asking God, or no one in particular for “just 20 more good years?” Or 30 or 2? Did you ask yourself if God actually showed up and said “OK, you got it” what exactly you’d do after that? Would you reassess your days, quit your job...

    Accountability

I agree with all of the above. Nice work. I hope you get the recognition you deserve!

When your job makes you proud!!!

Congratulations on a job well done. Pride in one's work appears to be on the verge of extinction. I'm lucky. I'm a physician (gastroenterologist to be specific). It's still a great profession, rewarding in many ways, including pride in my work.

    09 FZ6 vs. Versys Comapison

That's a great write-up. Very thoughtful. I'm now riding the FZ1 but when I went to buy the FZ6 I was considering the Versys and the Ninja 650R. I did not like the way I sat on the Versys. I'm 5'10" and have a good reach to the ground but was up on my toes when sitting on the Versys. In trying...

Discriminated against at Maccas for riding a bike

I flipped burgers at McD's for three years, while in high school and first year of college. The managers back then demanded more respect for the customers. These days it's a different story. Listening to your experience in Australia, I guess the trends today are not just in the USA. More like a...

how do you stop yourself from lusting other bikes?

In answer to the OP's question: Can't be done. God knows I've tried.

    First bike! FZ6 or CBR600F4i??

Aleziel summed it up beautifully. 600 cc in line 4's are not by any stretch of the imagination starter bikes. They are powerful bikes. Traditionally, 250 cc bikes are starter bikes. As stated above, if you dive into the sport you'll likely outgrow them fast, but you'll learn a ton in the process...

    I had an accident today....

I'm sorry to hear that. Sliding at 60 MPH is no joke. I agree with Nelly. There's nothing to be learned here. It's just bad luck. Sand and gravel are the thing that scare me most and for that reason I try to avoid riding at night. Heal well my friend.

    Yet another near miss...

When I was younger I remember wishing I had a couple dozen extra lives which I would use for the purpose of "teaching people a lesson," like letting them run me over and have them face the consequences. Meanwhile I'd come back in a new life ready to teach the next person a lesson. Bizarre right...

    interesting experience on Craigslist tonight

Or this ad: "For sale: FZ6 motorcycle. If you never owned one you suck. I'm practically giving it away for $5000."

Easiest way to pay toll with cash

It's definitely worth the effort to get an E-Z Pass. I have one for my car and one for the bike. I found a great cheap way of attaching it to the bike as well. It is important to know that the EZ pass, in my experience, is best "read" when it is upside down, flat, and with the thick part facing...

    Some thoughts...

Norm’s thoughts on riding at 30,000 miles of age: • It is a more risky mode of transportation than a car and requires constant vigilance of road surface conditions including imperfections, sand, and gravel. • Most bikes are capable of rapid changes in speed which is a two-edged sword...

    Citi can drop dead

I'm not a big fan of banks. Good for you for paying in full and getting out. I never carry a balance and I've preached this to my kids.

Accepting the fz6's look for what it is.

I think the OP was just tossing a bomb to see what came back. I've always admired what many of you can do mechanically. The only thing I've modified is my shoelaces. Then I had to take them to the cobbler to fix what I did.

I'm a girly man and need your help!

try a full bike helmet. The helmet goes over the entire bike and rider...like DarK Helmet from Spaceballs. j/k It's a common problem actually. All of the above (well most of the above) are good solutions.

    Advisability of occassional riding

Very thoughtful topic. Thanks. I didn't start riding till my kids were older (12 and 15). I have now put on about 30,000 miles, mostly in the past 3 years. Each time I hear about the "motorcycle" stories I re-think my passion for riding. I considered trading my bike for a Mini-Cooper just this...

    Top Sellerie Seat Poll

The TS seat I bought from Eric is a very high quality product in my opinion. I've taken it off a couple times now to get to my battery (new heated Gerbing clothing-whoopeee!) and appreciate its beauty every time I examine it. But Justin's experience and other's here are infinitely valuable for...
