Installed an APE manual cam chain tensioner and had a choice to make. Do I leave the tensioner looser, hoping its not too loose and instantly destroys my engine, or do I put it to the max distance my auto tensioner goes to and start from there.
Took the second option and engine worked fine...
Laid bike down stopping on hill with steep grade. slider saved bottom 75% but the corner of top fairing was cracked to pieces so the whole thing has to be replaced.
One of the things that stopped me from getting a fender eliminator right away was that everyone seemed to place price around $100 dollar mark. Went on eBay the other day for kicks and found a nice black powdercoated fender eliminator for 24.99 shipped. There are loads more and I didnt know if...

So I am going to try a manual tensioner to try and eliminate this valve train noise because its getting pretty bad and I want to make sure this piece is operating right.
Does anyone know a good company that makes manual tensioners for an 06'? Also, what is the process for tightening to spec...

Okay, so I pulled the trigger on these pants because I needed something that was A) relatively inexpensive B) Warm enough for winter C) and had short sizing available. :D Price came out to $140 after coupon with free shipping. I am a 34 waist and 5'6" so the medium (short length) pants worked...
I was trying to think of a way to raise awareness about the importance of riding gear and also a way to show my pride in the fact that I give a hoot about being a responsible rider. I remember a person on the forum creating swingarm decals and I was wondering if they could design some awesome...
As I have been purchasing gear for winter and parts for bike, I have become overwhelmed by the amount of coupons I have been getting! I figured I'd share the wealth and post them up here for you guys to use. If I get more I will throw them up as well.

I ordered a new stock front sprocket from yamaha because of the rubber on it and it was cheap but I wanted to go +2 in the rear to help with gearing a little. I choose a 48T Vortex Sprocket. I picked up a DID 530VM Xring chain with 120 links. If the stock setup of 16t/46t had a chain of 118...
With 21+k miles on bike and no previous knowledge of the current chain maintenance I want to swap out sprockets and chain. Gonna keep front a 16T stocker and I want to do an aftermarket rear (probably supersprox in black) with 48T. According to the Haynes manual our chain is 118 links long. The...
Link is to a pdf I found on JT website that shows gearing ratios. It's probably in another thread somewhere but I figured I'd throw it up here in case anyone wanted to play with sprocket choices. :D
