I have a pair of SIDI Vertigo boots, which are the next step up in protection from the Cobras. Riding with them is excellent, pretty much forget you have them on. Walking around with them off the bike isn't too bad either. I would expect similar results for the Cobras. No experience with...
All the way down. If it's warm, I may pop it up at the intersection, but that's about it. I have had some rather large things hit my visor around where my eyes would have been, so I keep it down.
Ok, so I know I posted this a long time ago but I finally got around to looking into it. Ended up being a bad connector in the wiring harness. Somehow a single contact ended up getting bent out of place at one of the quick disconnects. Once I bent it back into place with a screwdriver all was...
For a while, I utilized the method of keeping it in the left hand jacket pocket. Adding a key chain to the zipper pull makes it really easy to operate with gloves on. Then I ended up buying one of the arm bands with elastic bands, but that ended up being even slower than my pocket. So, I...
Hey everyone!
I took an extended break for about 4 months, but I finally got my bike back and ready to ride. At first, everything was good to go, but just recently the speedometer started having issues. When I turn the key the fuel pump kicks on, but the instrument cluster doesn't start up...
I am not mechanically inclined enough to change the tires myself either. Last thing I would want is my wheel to fall off when riding. :BLAA: I ended up ordering my tires from Motorcycle Superstore. They have a preferred installer option where they will ship the tires directly to the shops...
Thank you everyone for the kind words and the advice. My co-workers gave me a really nice unexpected send off too. I am definitely looking forward to everything and I will be sure to report back after basic! :america:
Good luck. I considered going naked, but I wasn't ready for all the electrical work confusion and breaking things. Plus I have an 06, and it has the round speedo, which I think looks weird on nakeds.
Well, the time has come. I ship out for basic training for the Army on Monday. Pretty excited to go, but is was a bit depressing getting the bike ready for storage so early in the riding season. My training is going to be quite lengthy, so I am not too sure when I will be reunited...
I will take a Street Triple R please. One of the new ones (don't hate). Now that the R version has some new color choices that I actually like, it is even more tempting.
My helmet experience is limited to a budget Fulmer helmet and a Shoei RF-1100, so I don't have much advice to offer you. However, when it comes to wind noise, I recommend ear plugs :) It also reduces fatigue a bit after a long ride. I have a reusable pair that I carry on the bike so I never...
I am looking to do an advanced course in the future as well. I will soon be in the military, so as soon as I can get my bike on base, I will probably take another safety course. I read somewhere that they offer a course oriented specifically toward sport bikes, in addition to the basic and...
Ah, yeah, allen bolts would be correct. Not sure why I was thinking they were phillips. I just hand tightened mine when I put them back on, and so far everything is still there :)
You may want to contact your insurance company after completing the course. Some companies will give you a discount for an approved safety course within a certain time frame. Progressive gives a discount for a course within the last three years.
In Indiana you obtain the permit by taking a written test. Only restrictions you have with a permit include no night riding, no passengers, and helmet and eye protection are required. Permit is good for one year, and you have to hold it for 30 days before you can take the riding test for the...
